OK Republicans what is your end game? You are banking the 2014 election on Obamacare must fail.....what happens if it doesn't?

Do Republicans need a Plan B on ObamaCare? - The Week

For years, Republicans have trotted out the same message: ObamaCare is a massive disaster, and the public knows it. And when Healthcare.gov crashed out of the starting gate, that message proved quite resonant.

Which raises a thorny question for the GOP: What if ObamaCare works?

If ObamaCare keeps improving, the GOP's "we told you ObamaCare was a mess" pitch could quickly wear thin. And if it does, Republicans will find themselves in need of a new argument or a legislative alternative.

"For them, it just doesn't matter if Healthcare.gov is working, since ObamaCare is destined to fail, reality be damned!" he added. "At most, the broken website was useful fodder for attacks on the administration. Now that it's made progress, the GOP will revert to its usual declarations that the Affordable Care Act is a hopeless disaster."

Which points to another problem for Republicans: Their anti-ObamaCare crusade will be tough to sustain once people begin to see the law's benefits in action. Mother Jones' Kevin Drum sussed out that point, writing, "Once the benefits of a new program start flowing, it's very, very hard to turn them off."

That's their fear. I described it several times as seeing sausage being made vs the taste of sausage.

Once ACA starts working and people stop being raped by their Insurance policies or it goes straight single payer people will like it. So repubs have to describe every part of making the sausage as being the next terrible thing. OMG someone got dropped! OMG the website! OMG! OMG!

I can tell you I am not at all worried about Obamacare working. Im more concerned about what's going to happen if I win the lottery. And I don't buy lottery tickets.

.

The GOP has had years to create and push an alternate to the ACA, and they have chosen not to.

Supposedly some "plan" or "plans" exist, but they've made no effort to promote them. All they have to do is hold it up in front of the camera when they're interviewed live, which is often.

So, here we are. Both parties are responsible for this.

Starting Jan 1, come hell or highwater, millions of Americans will have Obamacare insurance

Republicans are banking their 2014 election chances on repealing Obamacare. What are they going to offer the millions of Americans who lose their coverage?

obamacare is a failure. It can't succeed because it is so badly flawed that success is impossible. It's like building a skyscraper held together with twigs and mud. obamacare is held together by a succession of lies. Democrats imagine it will go to single payer, except those in single payer countries don't like what they have either! NICE isn't exactly popular in Britian. Germany, with the most successful universal health care practices isn't single payer, they have provisions for everyone paying something and private insurance with coverage you don't get from government provided insurance. Canada doesn't have one overarching government program. Each province has their own. Some give very good care and some give useless care. All have very long waits.

obamacare has three major objectives, redistribute wealth, repeal reality and redistribute actual health.

For the millions of people now losing their coverage, what is the government offering them? Less benefits, increased premiums, increased co pays and a much higher deductible. In some cases, deductible's so high, the person is effectively without insurance at all.

They will offer them nothing, other than it is your fault for being poor. Similar to their wanting to get lazy fucks off of welfare without creating jobs for them.

Obama and his 'Obamatowners' are doing a fine job of proving how useless they are. They are digging their own grave politically. All the LIBs about to lose their seats in 014 know it. Wait until the employer mandate ends. I wonder how many of the millions of voters who will then lose their employer subsidized health care will be turning out to vote for the LIBs? You'll be able to count them on one hand.
Obama's wet dream-fantasy that young healthy people are going to flock the Obamacare to pay for something they don't want and don't need so the poor and elderly don't have to pay up for their healthcare is ludicrous. Not to mention 'the young and healthy' are having a hard time finding a part time job at McDonalds.........who BTW won't be kicking in a penny to help these young people pay for their healthcare premiums.

I'd like to see them pull that off with video clips of them whining about people losing their insurance playing in the background.

Someone once said: Making no choice is still a choice.

So far the repubs have offered nothing as an alternative except to say "Hey, The old system wasn't THAT bad, right?"

That is the GOP Plan in a nutshell

The GOP echo chamber has been chanting "Obamacare must fail" for so long they can't envision a scenario where that does not happen.

In fact, there is very little chance Obamacare will fail. People will sign up for Obamacare Exchanges. People who formerly did not have health insurance will have it

The only "Fail" will be Republicans trying to take it away from them

What happens to the Republican Governors in 2014 who refused to set up State Exchanges and turned down Medicaid expansion in their states?

Are their Democratic opponents going to hit the airwaves with "This is what you would be paying for insurance if Gov GOP didn't block it"

How will Red State voters respond when they compare what their insurance options are compared to other states?

I kind of like Obama's plan B.

Return to private citizens directly contacting insurance companies and re-purchasing the plans they liked.

When the radical left asks the question "what if Obama care works" you know they are in deep shit and they know the plan is a colossal failure and they are desperately looking for wiggle room so the next election won't end in a republican landslide.

First of all, there is no healthcare crisis that mandates changing the entire system. before ACA no one was being denied healthcare. Yes, there were a few problems that needed fixing.

making insurance companies take people with pre-existing conditions
eliminating maximum lifetime payments
fixing the outrageous cost of drugs, hospitals, and medical devices.

The real problems could have been fixed with a one page bill.

If the goal was to provide insurance to the 4 or 5 million citizens who did not have it, the govt could have bought each of them a policy for much much less than what ACA is costing, and left the rest of us alone.

ACA is not about healthcare or insurance-----its about a govt takeover of 1/6 of the economy and more socialism.

Obamacare has as much chance of working as Michelle's fat ass has of flying to the moon.
Democrats believe in magical thinking. They are the true primitives of modern society.

Ahhh.. the trick of the lefties.. try and get the conservatives to say it has to be a GOVERNMENT handled solution...

The problem IS that it is government based to begin with

Challenge to Republicans

Offer up a non-government alternative to Obamacare

What he said... ^

All the republicans need to have as far as plan B, is REPEAL obamacare.

What else can be done? We can look at that after obamacare is repealed.
