I called this the day Guillermo del Toro stepped down.
For those that don't know, Blomkamp owes Peter Jackson his career. Jackson originally hired Blomkamp to direct a movie of the Halo video games that Jackson had been approached to produce. Blomkamp's bid was turned down by the studio executives, so Jackson gave Blomkamp free access to his studios and some seed money to fund the project that became District 9.
