He tweeted out that it was the United States military that brought the disease to China. As you can see, he republished the March 11th congressional hearing of Robert Redfield, director of the CDC, who said some influenza deaths in the U.S. were later identified as cases of COVID-19. However in the clip, Redfield doesn’t mention when those people died or over what time period, but Zhao used his remarks to claim that the coronavirus did not originate in Wuhan. He, of course, offered no evidence to substantiate the claim.

Right after his tweet, the conspiracy theory was republished by Chinese state media, including in the nationally broadcasted CCTV and in the Global Times. Few days later, China Xinhua News tweet aimed at US “Racism is not the right tool to cover your own incompetence.”

China is trying to blame us, and while they blocked the export of medical supplies, they're playing good guys by "donating" those same supplies around the world.

There is an active PR misinformation campaign on this. They lost standing and are playing damage control there and 'helping' where they can, as you indicate.

They're like the mob or cartels handing out turkeys for Christmas or some silly crap. Yeah we know your irresponsibility in covering this up early and literally seeding the world with this shit is killing tens of thousands and very possibly in the millions before this is over but, hey, thanks for the gloves.

How anyone takes a single thing they say seriously is beyond me...

Just as they did it before with SARS, deception was going to be China’s state policy during the this, or any future pandemic.

What was surprising, or maybe not, was how readily western media took the bait and become uncritical of China’s attempts to dodge responsibility. American news media repeated China’s claim and presented it as evidence of a growing divide within the scientific community on the coronavirus origins. Reuters published Chinese propaganda almost word for word in their article...

Actually you have to consider who is evaluating the statement. According to the Progressive Marxist socialist/DSA Democrat Left, China has done a good job in developing and spreading this bio-hazard as a bio-weapon under the pretext that it came from "wet markets", then blaming Trump for the spread of Covid-19 in America, while the Chinese bio-weapons war has spread world wide...
On the other Conservatives look at this as a direct act of war by China.
Not only have the Chinese created and spread this virus, they've shipped defective equipment to countries under the pretext of sending aide.

I would be interpreting the numbers reported as under reported by the Chinese by a factor of 10X.
Please note that Chinese Public Health systems are primitive at best for the major population and they are packed into the cities.
