It's more than "greatly exaggerated", those claims are total bullshit. There is absolutely no benefit to the middle class if the SALT deduction were to be abolished.

There is another subtext. Democrats want SALT to be deducted from Federal income taxes so that they can increase SALT to higher levels and have more money for politicians and public employee unions.
