It didn't effect bottles at all. In fact when the can shortage started (about 2 years ago) breweries switched to bottles. They laid the blame on covid. People that normally drank at bars and restaurants that served beer started buying their own for home. That dramatically increased aluminum can usage as draft beer comes in kegs, and few have a keg cooler at home.
While new can factories were being built, construction wasn't expected to be complete until January of this year. Well January is gone and we're into August, and I still can't buy my Molson Canadian in cans. I hate buying bottles because I'm a daily beer drinker, and it really weighs down my recycle bin. Plus cans are cheaper than bottles, and when I recycle my cans, at least I get a few bucks out of it.
