We are a Democratic Republic. Our Congress, our state legislators, our city and county councils, State Governors and mayors are all elected by the voters. That is the dominant method to support our leaders, and to send them packing, "whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."


WE THE PEOPLE of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Those who have taken basic courses in Political Science know that Constitutional Monarchies govern subjects, not citizens. The founders revolted against Monarchies, and wrote the Constitution with the genius of Charles, Baron de Montesquien and his writing on the Separation of Power.

Thus Art I comes first, and gives the power of the money and writing of laws to our Congress, and the limited power in Art II for the President.

Claiming that we are a Constitutional Republic is a damn Sophistry promulgated not original to the Trump supporters, but by Plutocrats and extreme far right 21st century Republicans.

Constitutional Republic is preferable because it places the emphasis on the Constitution and the doctrine of the rule of law.

That in our Constitutional Republic citizens are subject solely to the rule of law – not men, as men are incapable of ruling justly.

It acknowledges and codifies the fact that our rights and protected liberties are not subject to popular vote, not subject to the capricious whims of voters far too often motivated by fear, ignorance, bigotry, racism, and hate (see West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette in my signature below).

When government errs and enacts measures contrary to the Constitution, the rule of law allows those disadvantaged by government the means by which to seek relief through the judicial process when the political process has either failed or has not been afforded to those disadvantaged.

This is why a Constitutional Republic is far superior to a democracy.

NO! Democracy ends at the State lines, that's the way our Constitution set it up. They wanted to prevent the tyranny of the majority at all costs. It would allow all the power to be concentrated in the most populous States. Of course people who hate the country want to rewrite the vision of the founders and essentially destroy the American dream.

Also you might want to read the 9th Amendment as well.

Mea culpa, I forgot to note the 9th. For others here is the statement which verifies we are a democratic republic:

"The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."

You commies will never give up on trying to rewrite our history, will ya? We are and always have been a constitutional representative republic, better known as a republican form of government. The States hold all sovereignty and through them the people. The States have the constitutional authority to modify or abolish the federal government all together. You really have no clue what the hell you're talking about. I think you should go back to your masters for a new set of arguments.

Democracy is a myth. It can only exist in small groups. The second you get more than one small group it falls apart. You end up with two rooms full of people pissed at the other room full of people with no way to come to a determination. It has the same limitations as a Communist group.

The United States is now, always was and always will be a Federal Republic. We elect reprentatives to vote for us. And that goes from municipal all the way to Federal. You can call it anything you wish but that's what it is.

It's a mix of Capitalism and Socialism. The larger it gets, the more social programs will be needed in the form of services. And what pays for those services? Capitalism.
