We're not supposed to see how the DC sausage is made, but Joe Manchin's side deal for his vote on Biden's "Inflation Reduction Act" is common knowledge.
The dems got Joe's vote. The IRA passed. But now Bernie and several democrats are saying they will shut the government down if Manchin gets his pipeline.
Manchin said an additional $1.2 billion investment would be needed to finish the pipeline, which is about 94% complete.
It would take roughly five months to finish and create about 2,500 jobs, he estimated, while providing about $40 million annually in tax revenue for West Virginia.

Manchin (D-WV) told WOWK on Monday that he “secured a commitment” from Biden, Schumer (D-NY) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) that they would allow completion of the Mountain Valley Pipeline carrying West Virginian natural gas to Virginia in exchange for his signing on to the Inflation Reduction Act.

The Washington Post, one of the news organizations that initially reported this deal, pointed out that while the climate bill needed only 51 votes in the Senate (all 50 Democrats plus Vice President Kamala Harris as the tie-breaker) to pass, this side deal would require 60 votes. That means it needs at least 10 Republican votes. The Post foreshadowed the first potential trouble with this side deal, vote-wise: “Republicans have supported similar measures in the past, but the agreement could face defections from liberal Democrats, who have warned against making it easier to open new oil and gas projects.”

How would switching parties get this done? Be specific.

The chance for switching parties is over. He held onto his principles for a long time, but in the end democrats found something he wanted bad enough, so he caved. I dont see how that decision is going to endear him to republicans now.

That has been the Democrats MO for decades. LIE to get the legislation passed, then immediately renege, break their word, back out and not hold up their end of the deal. Get what they want then screw over the other side. Democrats CANNOT be trusted!

No way Manchin switches parties - he's a through and through KKK democrat. He got fucked with the old "you can keep your pipeline" bait-and-switch and now he's a dnc punchline. He'll get beat down by 35 and replaced in 2024 and slink off into anonymity.

Dear God, switch party's, after he fucked the nation up its ass??? Some of you fucks are impossibly fucking stupid, Manchin so back stabbed West Virginia, and the United States with that act of treason he cooked up with Mcconnell(you bet your ass Mcconnell was in on it)that Manchin's silly ass career is over, no American wants that prick in their party, if the nation survives to 2024 Manchin is gone, he possesses an 11% approval in West Virginia, they hate him for what he has done to them, and what he did to them with that vote was kill dead the coal/oil industry in the state, and of course thousands and thousands of jobs and families!

WV is the reddest state. Welcome aboard Joe!

OK, then, does Manchin vote with the Ds or Rs going forward?
I'm not ready to ignore a voting senator, especially if his vote could swing control of the senate in 2023.
I'll take Manchin in the GOP. If he loses his primary in 2024, so what?

So Manchin is surprised when the people he fucked start fucking back. Imagine that.

It's good to see Dark Biden finally decide to smack that schmuck around a bit...
