1). Attack and destroy the ability of police to enforce the law.

2) Release as many dangerous and violent criminals as possible.

The two policies are working as planned and violent crime is increasing across our country.

The student who authored the petition apologizes. This is the kind of insane bullshit that comes from the NYC defund the police attitude. In 2000, there were over 500 violent offenses recorded per 100,000 people. In 2020, that figure was down to just under 400 - a 20% reduction over the period.
Between 2019 and 2020, FBI figures show a significant increase in murders per 100,000 people - going up to 6.5 from 5.1 - a jump of 27%. (wasn't that before the pandemic)

There is a problem Police have been saying for years. Sine many other services to the community has been cut the Police are the last line of defence... So when you cut Community Mental Health services or Drug Rehab services, who do you think that burden in the community falls on too?
So the US has less Police per Captia than EU but they are also far less trained in comparison to the EU equivalent... To be a Police officer in EU is close to a degree subject in college...
In Ireland:
"This the foundation programme for Garda Trainees. This training programme is delivered over 104 weeks leading to B.A. Degree in Applied Policing."

US it is as low as 13 weeks and Irish are not armed... They aren't even qualified to drive the car after 2 years of training(High Speed).. US police training is far behind international norms...

So because police training is behind the EU noms as you put it the idea is to remove funding allow violent criminals back onto the streets? I know this might seem like a radical idea but maybe over a given time period require more training.
Maybe even increase pay for completing more training courses as an incentive.
Certain countries do not normally arm their police because guns are seldom used in crimes.
The idea of allowing someone to steal $900.00 and not be prosecuted is to say the least ludicrous
I have no problem with more training. I have no problem with trying to weed out the bad actors in the police. But you do not do that by reducing budgets, allowing criminal behavior to flourish or bypassing the police altogether.

So how would you do anything like that here? A police officers job was not long ago one of the most wanted out of any career. Departments would post three openings for the job and have hundreds of applicants. Thanks to the lefts demonization of our police, now we can't find anybody that wants the job. Not long ago we got to pick the best out of the best when it came to applicants. Today they'll hire anybody just willing to do the job.
