This is a limited series from the book entitles the same.
We liked the series all the way until the last episode. The series built up the anticipation of what is going to happen, only to wrap loosely leaving you unsatisfied.

Why did the ending suck? Because in the book, the main character (a 15 year old boy accused of murder, but gets off of the charge in a jury trial) - his mother can't take that she pretty much knows he murdered the other teen, and is likely to kill again. So, again, in the book she purposefully drives her car at a high speed into a wall on his side... killing him.
But in the show... she doesn't kill him. Only hurts him... and the show shows her as temporarily going insane and wasn't in control of the car and she can't even remember doing it.
Why would they do that? Easy... hollywood can't take a mother killing her son on purpose. So they change it to this impossible to believe twist that makes no sense.
