As obvious as it is that Islam has it's share of barbarism, it is nonetheless completely dishonest to pretend that Christianity has been a net source of good in the world. And most especially, it is absurd to pretend as if the Crusaders were good people. One only needs examine a summary from the point of view of a religious minority who were the subject to both Crusaders and Muslims during this period:

With return of the Byzantines in 628, the Byzantine Emperor Heraclius promised to restore Jewish rights and received Jewish help in ousting the Persians with the aid of Jewish leader Benjamin of Tiberias. Heraclius later reneged on the agreement after reconquering Palestine by issuing an edict banning Judaism from the Byzantine Empire and thousands of Jewish refugees fled to Egypt, following Byzantine and Ghassanid perpetrated massacres across the Galilee and Jerusalem.
...

After the [Muslim] conquest, Jewish communities began to grow and flourish. Umar allowed and encouraged Jews to settle in Jerusalem. It was first time, after almost 500 years of oppressive Christian rule, that Jews were allowed to enter and worship freely in their holy city. Seventy Jewish families from Tiberias moved to Jerusalem in order to help strengthen the Jewish community there. But with the construction of the Dome of the Rock in 691 and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in 705, the Muslims established the Temple Mount as an Islamic holy site. The dome enshrined the Foundation Stone, the holiest site for Jews. Before Omar Abd al-Aziz died in 720, he banned the Jews from worshipping on the Temple Mount.
...

In 1099, the Jews were among the rest of the population who tried in vain to defend Jerusalem against the Crusaders. When the city fell, a massacre of 6,000 Jews occurred when the synagogue they were seeking refuge in was set alight. Almost all perished... Under Crusader rule, Jews were not allowed to hold land and involved themselves in commerce in the coastal towns during times of quiescence. Most of them were artisans: glassblowers in Sidon, furriers and dyers in Jerusalem.[citation needed] At this time there were Jewish communities scattered all over the country, including Jerusalem, Tiberias, Ramleh, Ashkelon, Caesarea, and Gaza. In line with trail of bloodshed the Crusaders left in Europe on their way to liberate the Holyland, in Palestine, both Muslims and Jews were indiscriminately massacred or sold into slavery.
...

The Crusader rule over Palestine had taken its toll on the Jews. Relief came in 1187 when Ayyubid Sultan Saladin defeated the Crusaders in the Battle of Hattin, taking Jerusalem and most of Palestine. (A Crusader state centred round Acre survived in weakened form for another century.) In time,Saladin issued a proclamation inviting all Jews to return and settle in Jerusalem, and according to Judah al-Harizi, they did: "From the day the Arabs took Jerusalem, the Israelites inhabited it." Al-Harizi compared Saladins decree allowing Jews to re-establish themselves in Jerusalem to the one issued by the Persian Cyrus the Great over 1,600 years earlier.

You don't need to talk of Islam before talking about the Crusaders.

Christianity going to war was only natural. The Muslim armies were feared in the whole world. Islam was the leader of mankind. Christianity would not just sit and watch humble and sincere Muslims proclaiming their love exclusive to Allah Almighty (God Almighty), and then sit and watch the mercy of God for these Muslims as He destroys unbelievers through them. One way or the other, Christianity had to react. They ended up gathering arms against the ideals of Truth.

Religions is a mixture of politics and spirituality. None is superior to the other. They are all used by the political elites to control the local populations to do their bidding. What a silly thread.

Really more about being honest about history, and what it says about people when they can't do so.

Well, the purpose was to push back Islam and reclaim land. Whether the cause was worthy or not depends on which you prefer. As far as good goes, one of the basic tenets of Christianity is that only God is good. So what purpose your strawman serves is anyone's guess but what matters most is that there are no Crusaders causing problems today. Radical Islam is a very real problem and it's dangerously stupid to minimize it in any way shape or form.

A person would have to be pretty stupid not to realize that the warriors for a totalitarian ideology did not spread their creed like wildfire because it was based upon puppies, rainbows and unicorns. Islam consumed all in its path because it is aggressive by very design.

Only a child would simplify the world down to "good guys" and "bad guys", and only children look at the world today and sympathize with the aggressiveness of this same religion just because Europeans finally pushed back against its expansion many centuries ago.

The Jesuits don't answer directly to the Pope, they answer directly to the Superior General of the Society of Jesus.

Please, don't be ignorant, Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Christians are two forms of the very first Christianity, they are BOTH Christian. Please don't fall for the divisive political propaganda of the world's political elite's.

Most Christians still follow the tenets of both of the originating councils of Nicea. If I were to ask you if you recognize as sacred and holy the texts of the Nag Hammadi or Dead Sea Scrolls that the Gnostic Christians follow, you would probably answer "no." Those were NOT deemed sacred by whose bishops? I'll tell you whose bishops, CONSTANTINE'S Bishop's. And Constantine was a. . . Anyone? Anyone?

A ROMAN

As in, Roman Catholic, or Eastern Orthodoxy.

All of Christendom, or most of it, still uses the Apostolic Creed. If they ascribe to those councils and the Roman originated Bible they do. Remember, the Bible was made by Rome, and the Crusades pre-date the Reformation.

If you think that the Jesuits and the SMOM haven't infiltrated all of the other major denominations of Christian, Muslim and Hebrew religions, and aren't indirectly controlling them, think again. All major intelligence agencies date back to before WWII when the SMOM and the Jesuits WERE the world's intelligence agency.

Religion is just the elite's way of manipulating the world populations hearts and minds. The Christ and the Buddha came here to end that. When you try to divide folks in the manner in which you are doing, you don't do the lord's work, you spread Lucifer's message.

Remember, there are many fine Catholics out there.

The pastor of an Ohio church that, for Halloween, gave children an anti-atheist cartoon “Gospel tract” published by a radical Christian hate group, has issued a public apology and denunciation of the cartoon’s “extreme methodology.”

The tract, titled “Mean Momma,” is the work of Chick Publications, an evangelical ministry that the Southern Poverty Law Center has long listed as a hate group due to its militant, vitriolic propaganda war against anyone who doesn’t adhere to its particular brand of Christianity.

Religion is very important. Without man can not reach his humanness. Religion serves the purpose of re-building the relationship between a man and his Lord Creator. As such, it is essential.

History always featured conflicts between nations, conflicts between races, conflicts between ethnic groups, and oppression. The only legitimacy could only come from religion. To believe a book about God's plan written 2000 years ago or more to be accurate to this day in 2014 is not responsible. Belief in the Bible, the Psalms, the Torah as we know them today is not responsible. The Qur'an stipulated from the beginning, n the 7th century that it would miraculously protected from corruption. The life of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) was extraordinarily well recorded for the fact that he is the last prophet and the prophet of the last days. In Islam, you find the truth, and truth takes only one form. Islam is the only true religion, because 2 religions can not be true.

Why would we believe a narrative that is 1300 years old anymore than one that is 2000+ years old. By that logic L. Ron Hubbard would be the true prophet

I can't think of any poster here who hasn't admitted the atrocities of the Crusaders. Now. That was 1000 years ago. The Christians also killed innocent people during the inquisition, the Albigensian Crusade and a whole host of other terrible events.

Care to point out the Christian atrocities of the last 300 years?

Did the Crusaders BEHEAD the muslims?

No. The eastern Orthodox church is just another branch of Catholicism and there is no salvation to be found there.
