Religion is very important. Without man can not reach his humanness. Religion serves the purpose of re-building the relationship between a man and his Lord Creator. As such, it is essential.
History always featured conflicts between nations, conflicts between races, conflicts between ethnic groups, and oppression. The only legitimacy could only come from religion. To believe a book about God's plan written 2000 years ago or more to be accurate to this day in 2014 is not responsible. Belief in the Bible, the Psalms, the Torah as we know them today is not responsible. The Qur'an stipulated from the beginning, n the 7th century that it would miraculously protected from corruption. The life of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) was extraordinarily well recorded for the fact that he is the last prophet and the prophet of the last days. In Islam, you find the truth, and truth takes only one form. Islam is the only true religion, because 2 religions can not be true.
A person would have to be pretty stupid not to realize that the warriors for a totalitarian ideology did not spread their creed like wildfire because it was based upon puppies, rainbows and unicorns. Islam consumed all in its path because it is aggressive by very design.
