Just banged this out today. It is my sincere prayer, for every single day this coming year. I hope you enjoy:
Dear God, This Christmas Season, Please _____.
Let me embrace and radiate kindness, always remembering that everyone I meet on Earth has something positive to teach; even the most negative individuals have moments of clarity. Help me to see to see through the smoke and mirrors.
Let me be reminded that I am only seeing the cover of the book, regarding all I come into contact with. Everyone has a story; please let me not judge only the tip of the iceberg.
Let me see the good in every situation, every person I cross paths with, every day that goes by. After all, I have a choice - to see the beauty around me or focus on the dirty window or lens of the camera.
Let me remember to always count my blessings. As an attitude of gratitude is just as important to my “diet” as healthy fruits and vegetables, I don’t ever want to take anything for granted - especially my loved ones.
Let me be a channel of peace, to all I meet. For it is when I am working hardest to give to those in need what I most desire for myself, that I receive what I am truly searching for.
Let me not take myself or others too seriously. A keen sense of humor has a profound way of easing the burden of life. I promise, God, to always keep laughing and smiling - even when things look grim. For, I want it said at my funeral that “He laughed his way through life and to the grave. He was a truly happy man and wasted no time whatsoever on the small stuff. Everyone should strive for that ideal.”
Merry Christmas to all who read this.
Amen (and thanks for reading).
