And, way down th page after graphs and stuff, comes this:

Bigger, better studies may find that cocoa is in fact a health elixir, so we should keep doing them. “It’s important to understand whether something as simple and low-risk as increasing a nutrient in the diet could also have health benefits,” said JoAnn Manson, a Harvard nutrition researcher. “[Cocoa] has looked promising in small-scale randomized controlled trials and in observational studies, so it’s worth moving now to more conclusive and large-scale randomized controlled trials.”

Health benefits of dark chocolate have been known for a long time. Dark chocolate does not have rhe unhealthy ingredients of milk chocolate and is only healthy when consumed in relatively small quantities for the flavanols without the added sugar and milk contained in milk chocolate.

Read the link. It concludes that overall, chocolate is not a healthy choice.

Cocoa was a drink of the Aztec priests and rulers. It became a great favorite of the Spaniards and was the only food that Saint Junipero Serra consumed beside gruel.
