September 5th, 2004 - Cops shoot innocent civilians

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, NOPD officers, in two separate incidents on the same bridge, fired on innocent civilians engaged in the federally protected activity of travel across a public bridge. The result was the death of one civilian in each incident, James Brissette and James Madison, as well as the injury of four others. One of the surviving civilians, Lance Madison, was wrongfully arrested and wrongfully charged with 8 counts of attempted murder of a police officer.

January 2, 2007 - Murder charges filed

NOPD officers Robert Gisevius, Kenneth Bowen, and Anthony Villavaso were charged with the first-degree murder of James Brissette. NOPD officer Robert Faulcon was charged with the first-degree murder of Ronald Madison. Those officers, as well as NOPD officers Michael Hunter, Ignatius Hills and Robert Barrios, were indicted on charges of attempted murder relating to the other four victims.

August 13th, 2008 - Murder charges dismissed

"A New Orleans judge threw out murder and attempted murder charges Wednesday, Aug. 13, against seven police officers accused of gunning down two unarmed Black men on an eastern New Orleans bridge five days after Hurricane Katrina."

September 30th, 2008 - Feds take case

"Federal officials will investigate the New Orleans police officers involved in fatal shootings that happened on a city bridge after Hurricane Katrina, authorities said Tuesday."

August, 2009 - Feds raid NOPD

"According to the paper, FBI agents this week raided the New Orleans Police Department’s homicide unit, seizing files and computer drives connected to the so-called Danziger Bridge incident of September 4, 2005."

February 24th, 2010 - Disgraced cop pleads to obstruction

"Former New Orleans Police officer Michael Lohman has pleaded guilty in federal court to obstruction of justice for his role in the alleged cover-up of a shooting on the Danziger Bridge in the chaotic days following Hurricane Katrina."

March 11th, 2010 - Another disgraced cop pleads to misprision of a felony

"Jeffrey Lehrmann ... pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge that he failed to report a cover-up in the investigation of the Danziger Bridge shootings in New Orleans, the Department of Justice said in a statement Thursday."
