It wasn't for just anticipated bed needs, everyone in the hospital with covid were released to recoup at home, when they no longer needed hospital care for the illness, NOT just nursing home residents!
In the NY rules, a doctor at the hospital had to certify the nursing home resident hospitalized with covid... was well enough, to go back to the nursing home and did not need at that point, hospital care, to recover.
So you can see with all the other rules on isolating the returning covid hospitalized residents, along with hospital/doctor certification for release among all of the other cdc guidelines they followed there was no malicious intent to harm.
THEN there is the issue of who was harmed by it? And why and how were they harmed by it?
That is why an investigation is needed!
It could be, the cdc and cms guidelines and New York's guidelines of isolation wards and separate staff was adequate, BUT the nursing homes did NOT follow the guideline requirements? It could be a stupid and deadly guideline from the get go?

NY State was talking of fining the Nursing Homes for not following rules, and nursing homes claim they felt like it was a mandate from the State, regardless of their capabilities, (even though in writing it specifically states it was only a mandate, IF they could follow the covid care guidelines)

So you can see with all the other rules on isolating the returning covid hospitalized residents, along with hospital/doctor certification for release among all of the other cdc guidelines they followed there was no malicious intent to harm.
THEN there is the issue of who was harmed by it? And why and how were they harmed by it?

It wasn't for just anticipated bed needs, everyone in the hospital with covid were released to recoup at home, when they no longer needed hospital care for the illness, NOT just nursing home residents!
In the NY rules, a doctor at the hospital had to certify the nursing home resident hospitalized with covid... was well enough, to go back to the nursing home and did not need at that point, hospital care, to recover.
So you can see with all the other rules on isolating the returning covid hospitalized residents, along with hospital/doctor certification for release among all of the other cdc guidelines they followed there was no malicious intent to harm.
THEN there is the issue of who was harmed by it? And why and how were they harmed by it?
That is why an investigation is needed!

That's statistic is TOTAL deaths, per million of population. What's shocking is that Florida's death rate is that high at all. Given that when New York got hit with the virus, there was no testing, and no treatments and the disease had spread throughout the population in winter weather in New York.
The Southern States got off easy, mainly because people were already spending their time outdoors in March and April. So the disease didn't spread as quickly. But these states should not have had the outbreaks they did. They didn't pass mask ordinances, to do anything to mitigate the spread.

I still haven't heard a single credible excuse for why Cuomo BEGGED for more ICU beds and then when they were given to New York by the Federal Government...he didn't use them! I don't fault Cuomo for all of the deaths in New York State nursing homes but I fault him for thousands of them! The decision to put infected Covid patients back into nursing homes anticipating needing hospital beds for other patients was so ill thought out that it boggles the mind that anyone would think that was good policy...yet four States did just that and those four States had some of the highest mortality rates in their nursing homes. All four of them were run by liberal Governors.
So go ahead and continue to try and blame deaths on Trump but the facts don't back up our contention. We would have lost far fewer people if liberal Democrats didn't have their heads up their rear ends.

It wasn't for just anticipated bed needs, everyone in the hospital with covid were released to recoup at home, when they no longer needed hospital care for the illness, NOT just nursing home residents!
In the NY rules, a doctor at the hospital had to certify the nursing home resident hospitalized with covid... was well enough, to go back to the nursing home and did not need at that point, hospital care, to recover.
So you can see with all the other rules on isolating the returning covid hospitalized residents, along with hospital/doctor certification for release among all of the other cdc guidelines they followed there was no malicious intent to harm.
THEN there is the issue of who was harmed by it? And why and how were they harmed by it?
That is why an investigation is needed!
It could be, the cdc and cms guidelines and New York's guidelines of isolation wards and separate staff was adequate, BUT the nursing homes did NOT follow the guideline requirements? It could be a stupid and deadly guideline from the get go?
We need to know...and need to learn from it. It is still in the CDC/CMS guidelines to return the residents to an isolation ward at the NHome I believe....and we really need to figure out what went wrong, if something did go terribly wrong....
Now THAT is bad enough and the Governors of those States will have to live with the results of their policies that killed so many...but what Cuomo did...deliberately LYING about how many NY nursing home patients were killed by what he'd done...while at the same time writing and selling a book for millions of dollars into his own pocket extolling his "leadership" during a crisis and accepting an Emmy for going on TV and telling those lies? That's statistic is TOTAL deaths, per million of population. What's shocking is that Florida's death rate is that high at all. Given that when New York got hit with the virus, there was no testing, and no treatments and the disease had spread throughout the population in winter weather in New York.
The Southern States got off easy, mainly because people were already spending their time outdoors in March and April. So the disease didn't spread as quickly. But these states should not have had the outbreaks they did. They didn't pass mask ordinances, to do anything to mitigate the spread.

That is what has been reported in the news, back at the time some nursing homes complained.
It was not an absolute mandate as some nursing homes complained.... the rules said if they could not make a separate covid ward, to place the recovering covid resident, in a nursing home elsewhere, who could.
I think some of the NHs may not have followed those rules? And problems arose from that....if memory serves? NY State was talking of fining the Nursing Homes for not following rules, and nursing homes claim they felt like it was a mandate from the State, regardless of their capabilities, (even though in writing it specifically states it was only a mandate, IF they could follow the covid care guidelines)
Someone is at fault. I think it should be investigated on what went wrong, and why...to determine such.

..... patients who had covid, or where they still have covid present should not be a reason for a resident admission request, be denied.

Except that number of deaths in New York Nursing homes is actually LOWER than most of the states where infections hit much later.
Even with the adjusted figures, New York's Nursing home death rate is slightly above the national average of 36% of cases. Consider that New York got hit before there were effective treatments and they were really making it up as they went along.
If, as has been claimed, Cuomo's policies increased nursing home deaths, why are New York nursing home deaths so much lower than many other parts of the country, including Texas and Florida, who had 6 extra months to prepare for the pandemic.

Just because we knew a year ago that Cuomo was cooking the books by not counting nursing home residents who were taken to the hospital just in time to die as "nursing home deaths" doesn't mean LizardBitch knows it. You have to remember, she doesn't know anything that she hasn't first been ordered to know by her masters.
