Cuba Turns To Capitalism?

Unfortunately, those countries don't include the United States.

Surprisingly, the latest country to show signs of new economic freedom is, of all places, Cuba -- where, according to the Washington Post, "The Cuban government, in its most dramatic reform since [Raul] Castro took over for his ailing older brother Fidel three years ago, is offering private farmers... the use of fallow state lands to grow crops -- for a profit."

In fact, it's working so well, they're even thinking about renaming "The Bay of Pigs" to "The Bay of Capitalist Pigs"...

And it's not just communist countries like Cuba, China and Vietnam noticing the benefits of the free market. Even godless, European social welfare states are throwing off the shackles of socialism. Despite incessant claims that the "rest of the world hates us," Germany just elected a center-right coalition that promised to slash taxes, entitlements and regulatory burdens on businesses.

Gosh it seems like every country in the world is becoming more like America, except America, which is becoming more like Finland. "

Before EU Elections: Left had Majority.

Even in my home country (Spain) Is getting rid of the Socialist President, Rodriguez Zapatero.

We haven't seen a true free-enterprise system in this country in over a hundred years because the state is so involved with our economic lives that we almost have to ask it for permission to do something. We have to get permits, licenses, jump over regulations, jump over taxes on our labor, and etc. While I don't think we live in a communist state yet I can't say we live in a free society because we have to do so much to execute that freedom over our lives. No one has to get a permit to open a newspaper or to even use the freedom of speech but imagine if we had to do all of that to execute those freedoms. Could you say we have the freedom of speech if it can be denied to us by the government in any way?

It is a sad state of affairs in our society that Americans can't recognize free-enterprise as a freedom in itself.

Why in the hell would they do this when Obama, Pelosi, and Reid tell us everyday that the Government is the only one who can save the country?????

A hundred years???? Try for most of the life of the US. We had a pure free-enterprise system under the Articles of Confederation and the founders decided that that system didn't work too well.
