Please please please don't tell me you buy that canned crap.

I have been making this recipe for about 5 years now.

20 oz cranberries
12 oz frozen dark cherries
1.25 packed cups brown sugar
a hefty pinch of fresh cracked black pepper
.5 cup apple cider
.5 cup bourbon

Bring the apple cider, cranberries, cherries, brown sugar and pepper to boil. Let boil for a couple minutes. Add the bourbon bring back to boil and reduce to a low simmer. let simmer for about 20 minutes stirring occasionally until thick. Let it cool and enjoy.

You can top with a little fresh orange zest too.

If bourbon isn't your thing

24 oz cranberries
1 cup white sugar or more to taste
1 cup dry champagne

bring to boil and then simmer until thick

Looks like a tasty recipe. When do we add the apple cider?

At the beginning with the cranberries cherries and brown sugar and bring to a boil for a couple minutes you'll see the cranberries splitting open

I see i left the cider out of the directions. Fixed

I figured at the beginning. Just wanted to be sure.

I'll try to remember to try it in the future.

There's a recipe on the back of the bag of fresh cranberries that is excellent!!!

I like the can jellied crap...makes a nice turkey cranberry cream cheese sandwich....

When we do a traditional Thanksgiving, we make the fresh cranberry sauce but we also put the canned cranberry sauce on the table. My step-dad's parents would only eat the canned cranberry sauce. They have passed on but the cranberry sauce remains. Candles are lit in memory of them and my mother's parents.

I make my own too and usually orange in it, some shredded rind. However your recipe with the cherries sounds delicious! Missed TG this year, Bday too so Christmas I'll double up :)

Dried? Fresh? Frozen? Does it matter?

.5 cup bourbon
1 cup dry champagne
I've got a headache already from that rotgut liquor and the sulfites in the wine, and I hate that shit even if all the alcohol boils off, as it certainly will if you simmer "until thick."

I use fresh cranberries and frozen cherries.

And the bourbon is for one recipe the champagne for the other
