Coronavirus in Red States

So what? the ultimate DECISION SHOULD BE up to the governors.. And this is NOT a fucking "victory dance".. It's REASONED "risk analysis"....
Yes.
A poorly reasoned analysis.

You have no reason to think that.. The governors are weighing stuff that hasn't even crossed your TDS riddled mind.. For instance, TN IS on "lock down".. Was on a mass phone town hall with my Congressman. He laid on us that just ONE rural county in TN YESTERDAY -- had 8 suicides.. NO MENTION of that on local news or elsewhere.. The lock-down ITSELF IS DEADLY... Especially if no one can find the "reboot" switch for 6 or 8 months. Or China stops buying our debt..

Ever see the suicide curve for the Great Depression??? Makes the 1 or 2% CVID death rate look like minor skirmish...
You have no reason to think that

I have every reason to think so. These governors are acting later than their counterparts who are ahead of them and still struggling. Any idiot should be able to see that as a problem.

How many TOTAL COVID cases in Iowa? North Dakota? You go look at the map I posted for the County by County map in the sticky section of Current Events and get back to me on this.. Go tell me what the TOTAL ACCUMULATED COVID "reported" in those 8 states has been..

If a state has ACCUMULATED less than a couple dozen COVID cases over 2 months since they started the tally, REASON and common sense says the risk is minimal enough to NOT cause a halt to EVERYTHING in the economy in that state...

But no reason why ?

Poor or not...it was reasoned.

Your post is like a cow dropping a load.....plop. Nothing but stink.
But no reason why ?

The reason is obvious. The fact that it was poorly reasoned is obvious. Too little, too late. These red state govs are not learning from the struggles of those who are ahead of where they themselves will be soon.

From the geography and timeline of those states -- there is ZERO reason to suspect any kind of "bubble" to break there. And if the #s CHANGE -- they can certainly revise the plan...

AND since those states are NOT REPORTING NEW active cases, the govs have an option to FORCE people entering their states to QUARANTINE for 14 days... Makes PERFECT sense...

2. The blue states are dying.

Exactly, dope.
They should be taking the measures earlier than NY did. Not later.

That's why if you've NOT HAD a bubble breakout -- the BEST strategy is ENFORCING YOUR BORDERS and lines of traffic into your state.. NOT stopping EVERYONE in the state from earning a living or confining them ALL to quarters..

DID YOU LOOK at the updating, interactive map that I linked?? I don't EVEN KNOW which states are STILL not under strict "stay at home" -- DO YOU???

Trump took measures earlier than NY did.

So far, Red States are doing a Victory Dance that they are immune to Coronavirus and it is only a Blue State problem.

Instead of showing leadership, Trump joins them in pretending.

When it comes, Red States will be hit particularly hard by the virus.
Firstly, they are woefully unprepared. They are doing little to discourage public gatherings.....particularly Churches

Secondly, they have a shaky healthcare infrastructure. In many cases people are 50 miles from the nearest healthcare facility. Those facilities are poorly staffed and when the shit hits the fan, they will have no access to critical safety equipment and ventilators.

While they won’t have the fatalities of urban areas, I fear their death rates will be much higher

Why?

They are independent and not needy like the blue states are

Church goers may be hit hard if they think their “faith” in a benevolent “God” will save them, particularly if they’re old and are afraid of dying.
This pandemic reflects “survival of the fittest” and NOT “faith” in fantasy.
The churches in Russia are also going to see a “correction” in human intelligence!

What is the EXTENT of "this existence"?? If the entire state has had but 25 or 40 cases and THOSE are in the rear view mirror -- WHAT'S the RISK? And how do you balance that.

Even Fauci said today he talked to govs in Iowa and Nebraska and thought they were doing a fine job -- SHORT of a blanket "stay at home" order.. If you want the FOOD CHAIN -- which is the ONLY remaining supply chain that America has left to survive -- YOU DO NOT want to experiment with losing this season's harvest.. The devastation from THAT -- WILL KILL MORE PEOPLE than the virus...

Have you look at that County by County map yet?? How many NEW cases in Iowa in the past 2 weeks???

Since you don't seem to be looking at the interactive map I posted -- WunderMap® | Interactive Weather Map and Radar | Weather Underground

Between March 21st and today -- the ENTIRE STATE of Iowa has had less than 300 cases REPORTED.. HOSPITALIZATIONS for 'reported' cases are about 5%.. That makes less than 20 people requiring hospitalization in the entire state since the BEGINNING of the reporting sometime mid February.. And the numbers are near the flat spot right about NOW...

You want to jeopardize the fall harvest in the nation's breadbasket for THAT?

I was thinking last week about this time that the Nation would blow past 1Mill cases reported. We haven't even APPROACHED 1/2 of that.. The #Americans reported to have COVID are just about 0.125% of our TOTAL population.. The number of INFECTED might be something like 0.25%...

I'm beginning to think we've panicked TOO MUCH about shutting the ENTIRE NATION down.. Because the RISK associated with that -- for a country that can't print money that does not EXIST fast enough is pretty damn high...

Reported numbers are a result of testing. Increases in positive numbers because more people are being tested is a meaningless number.

The pos/neg ratio is what matters.

No doubt many are weary of the disingenuous statements made by politicians as they open up their cities, counties, and states for business. As the number of cases of the virus increased by 28,060 in one day to 1,320,683 cases in the U.S. alone -- the most by far of any country -- as the number of deaths increased by 1,629 in one day to 78,557 in the U.S., these politicians are claiming the safety of Americans is their first priority.

Bull****!

Because of his desire to reopen the nation’s economy, Trump has cheered on states that want to return to normal quickly, despite the fact that the states are ignoring his guidelines. Trump wants the politicians to ignore his guidelines.

As Covid-19 sets a new record daily, politicians are assuring Americans that their “contribution toward reopening our nation’s economy is stable, safe and durable.”

Geez, I am sick of hearing that when the very opposite is true.

In two to three weeks the consequences of the actions taken by politicians may become apparent.

I sincerely hope I am wrong.

I read about this a week ago in another article, and it interested me because it is also being tested for those who suffer from a condition known as asthma. Apparently it alleviates some of the aggravation in the esophageal area where asthma can penetrate the misery to make it even worse. They think Pepcid AC will help some of the symptoms of all respiratory upper chest area. I just got some in from Amazon, because I figured that once people realize they can have a little comfort from their upper respiratory problem, it will help other areas too. If the area of the chest gets too inflamed, it could cause Coronavirus sufferers enough comfort to make them feel they can kick the disease.

A positive mental attitude is helpful in overcoming respiratory diseases, whereas a negative attitude or well-meaning individuals carrying on about the bad stuff can kill. In medicine, a doctor who can bring his patient a little comfort along the way can save a life. Where there is a comfort reprieve from the strangulation feelings of respiratory wheezing, there is hope. Hope can bring joy, and that can heal when one is feeling one is drowning with involuntary wheezes, etc. It may seem just a little thing, but it's worth the try. I just chewed my first berry-flavored Pepcid Complete, and my asthma is already at bay. Just think of what it can do to break the hopeless cycle that goes with a pandemic, just by giving that little nudge of hope that truly makes a patient feel back in control of his or her life again.

Edit: Percy, are you still there? I've not read anything about Viagra being a healing agent in Coronavirus, so I can't help you there.

There is always a data acquisition bias for these things. Ratios are a more stable metric.

We totally acknowledge blue cities in red states have the Wuhan virus.

Curious what you leftwingers think everyone should be doing? Everyone just sit home not working...for how long? At this rate of infection, it will take over 15 years to reach “herd immunity”. But isn’t that the goal? So why not start letting more people get exposed?
