Two attacks in Copenhagen—one at a free-speech debate and another at the city’s biggest synagogue—have left one dead and three injured. The gunman behind both was later killed by police.

The event, attended by the French ambassador to Denmark, was hosted by Lars Vilks, a Swedish cartoonist who became infamous after a cartoon portraying the Prophet Mohammed as a dog in 2007 attracted death threats. Vilks, who was unscathed, was the apparent target.

The attacks immediately brings to mind the events in Paris and beyond that began with the massacre at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo last month. But in fact, it was Denmark that began this whole cycle of debates and attacks on free speech and these latest attacks bring the whole grisly thing to a full and vicious circle.

3:33 p.m. Saturday - A gunman opens fire with an automatic weapon against a cultural center hosting a free speech debate. A Swedish artist who caricatured the Prophet Muhammad and the French ambassador are among participants. They are unhurt but Danish film director Finn Noergaard, 55, is shot and killed. Three police officers, two of them from Denmark’s domestic intelligence service PET, are wounded. Police say the gunman carjacks a Volkswagen Polo which he abandons a few kilometers (miles) from the scene. He then calls a taxi.

I fully agree it was "terrorism." Not disputing that so much as our making every little incident an act of terror, but not every larger scale one like in Aurora, Co. and such. Then it's the act of a mentally deranged person, not a terrorist. While I know the definition of terrorism, and understand absent political or cause-motives makes it not-terrorism, it seems more like semantics than anythign truly significant. Thus it's prejudicial.

If we called every shooter in the US a terrorist that'd be preferred. Then it wouldn't be we're constantly making mountains out of molehills making every Muslims' actions feed into the "Islam is a terrorist religion' thing.

This is a terror attack because the method is shoot the cops first allowing the following shootings then run. It is the scheme of the terrorists. My question is why run? You have served allah or whatever his name is by killing infidels and so you are going to heaven and screw 18 young nymphs for eternity.
