Consciousness, awareness maybe not so complicated

Probably no one will think that a calculator has a consciousness or it is aware of what it is doing. But imagine if a secondary circuitry is add alongside the arithmetic circuitry. This circuitry runs a different kind of process and takes input not only from the key input but also from the arithmetic circuitry. It's output is used to moderate and change the arithmetic circuitry, altering how calculations are done. Now can we say that this calculator is aware of what it's doing?

People often say that they're aware of what they're doing. Maybe it comes from the fact that an area of the brain is capable of taking information from other parts of the brain, prepossessed by sub-units perhaps, and thus be aware of what the individual is doing. It may very well be able to process it's own output, forming series of thoughts.

Whether a process in the nervous system sends information to this special part of the brain can probably be used to determine whether the process is conscious or sub-conscious. A living being probably doesn't need to be aware of a process if the process should always be done a certain way.

I think it's possible to create an information flow chart of the brain, and from that, we may be able to do a very real simulation of it.
