The bipartisan commission (that McCarthy among others had once called for) would have expired on December 31, 2021, and Republicans would have had the opportunity to obstruct, impair, and drag out the process, bringing down the curtain on the sordid affair well before the mid-term elections.

Congress not being allowed to confront the Trump goon attack upon Congress means it will be a feature of campaigns across the land, enhanced by the ongoing prosecution of Trump goons.

I'm fairly certain that the Trumpsters think they don't need the votes of anyone who dares to not fully agree with them. They appear to think that the Chinese Venezuelan Hitler Commie Biden (?) administration will be so painfully horrific that all "smart" Americans will flock to the polls to relieve us all of our misery, causing an epic electoral GQP tidal wave of historic proportions.

That, or they can keep enough people who would vote for the Democrats from voting. One of the two. Maybe both.
