Confirmed, 10.6 GW Pushes Country To 30 GW
February 17th, 2015 by Joshua S Hill
China’s National Energy Administration has released figures for the country’s solar installation over 2014, and the news is good: 10.6 GW of new solar was deployed in 2014, pushing the country’s currently installed capacity up to near-30 GW.

According to PV-Magazine and PVTech, the National Energy Administration released official data this week, which showed that China installed 10.6 GW of solar in 2014. However, these figures could be higher following individual reporting by Chinese provinces, which is likely to be confirmed early in the second quarter of 2015.

China’s 10.6 GW of solar installed included 2.05 GW of distributed PV, and accounts for approximately a quarter of all new PV capacity installed globally, as well as one-third of the total PV module output from China.

The NEA also reported the total installed PV capacity connected to the state grid at 28.05 GW — made up of 23.38 GW of ground-mounted capacity and 3.67 GW of distributed generation.

In terms of upstream, China produced a total of approximately 130,000 tonnes of poly silicon, a 50% increase on 2013 — but not enough to prevent approximately 90,000 tonnes of imported poly silicon.

Chinese PV modules production jumped over 33 GW, a 17% increase over 2013.

For something that is so utterly incapable of powering things. China, India and most of the world sure seems to be getting on its boat!
