There is very little difference between right wing authoritarian dictatorships, like Turkey or Russia, and left-wing authoritarian dictatorships like North Korea or Cuba. Both harshly and violently suppress criticism, and any political opposition. Working people get screwed under either type of regime.

In right wing authoritarian dictatorships, the oligarchs get rich. In left-wing authoritarian dictatorships the government leadership gets rich.

Neither side allows a free press, fair elections, or an unfettered opposition.

There is a HUGE amount of difference between Communist Cuba and the Battista Administration that preceded Fidel's ascendancy.

Cuba in the 1950's was the wealthiest country with the highest standard of living in all Latin America. The Battista government wasn't perfect, but they cooperated with US companies and the people were doing well.

Battista wasn't friendly toward Communists, true. But the experience of the Cuban people since shows that he was spot on.
