Under Kern’s bill, students couldn’t be punished for possessing small toy weapons or using writing utensils, fingers or their hands to simulate a weapon. Students also couldn’t be punished for drawing pictures of weapons or wearing clothes that “support or advance Second Amendment rights or organizations.”

About time! This zero tolerance in the schools has gotten out of hand. My 3 year was reprimanded at his daycare because he and a friend were going around playing cops and robbers, holding their fingers like guns and going "pow-pow." When I went to pick him up that day and was told that I needed to talk with him about it, I initially thought they were kidding but they sited me the zero tolerance policy and was told if his behavior wasn't changed he would not be welcomed at the daycare anymore.

Common sense zero tolerance is an oxymoron.
