To be clear, the obnoxiously woke, preachy, mean-spirited, sexless, and humorless Captain Marvel is not just a preview of what’s coming from the next phase of the Marvel franchise, it’s a preview of what we can expect from every movie (and TV show) for years to come.

Remember that scene where the joyless, intolerant, and bitter Captain Marvel assaults, robs, and threatens a guy for making a pass at her, and then steals his clothes and motorcycle? Remember the scene below where Captain Marvel proves she’s a thin-skinned bully, thief, and humorless asshole…?

We’re going to see a whole lot more of that.

In World War II, the country was united as never before in favor of a victory in Europe and Asia. People wanted to see movies that portrayed American (and allied) fighting men and women in a positive light. Movies that did so made money.

In America, regardless of philosophy of the film makers, the market chooses what entertainment they watch, not the state.

Even when America had a strict moralistic code applied to movies. Many film makers outside of major studios found they could be quite successful pushing that code to the limit or just ignoring it completely. In the 1960's the movie morality codes just disappeared.

Unless the state opts to take over and control media production in the US, not a likely scenario, the one factor that determines what we will see is box office.
