Scientists call it "going down the Up Escalator."
Denialists look at/cite Statistically-Too-Short, flat-to-down trends in what IS actually a much more stable and unmistakable medium and long term Heating trend.

They talk about a "Pause", which is not so. It's just that nothing goes straight up.

Still Going Down the Up Escalator
3 February 2012

The Escalator, originally created as a simple debunking to the myth "Global warming stopped in [insert date]", turned out to be a very popular graphic. Going Down the Up Escalator, Part 1 recently surpassed 20,000 pageviews, Part 2 has an additional 4,000+ views, and the graphic itself has been used countless times in other blogs and media articles. Due to its popularity, we have added a link to The Escalator in the right margin of the page, and it also has its own short URL, sks.to/escalator.

The popularity of the graphic is probably due to the fact that (1) it's a simple, stand-alone debunking of the "global warming stopped" myth, and (2) that particular myth has become so popular amongst climate denialists. As The Escalator clearly illustrates, it's easy to cherry pick convenient start and end points to obtain whatever short-term trend one desires, but the long-term human-caused global warming trend is quite clear underneath the short-term noise.

The original Escalator was based on the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature (BEST) data, which incorporates more temperature station data than any other data set, but is limited to land-only data; additionally the record terminates in early 2010. We originally created the graphic in response to thespecific myth that the BEST data showed that global warming had stopped.

And of course, since they claimed this "Pause" in 2012, the Heating has gotten even Worse/Accelerated.
We've had the 4 WarmEST years.

Of course we are warming. We're recovering from the last ice age. The Last Little Ice Age to be specific.

Tell me Moron, The IPCC stated that we were to have a 0.3 to 0,5 Deg C rise per decade. We have seen just 0.6 Deg C in the last 80 years far below their doom and gloom predictions. In Fact, we are seeing just 1/4 of the warming that CO2 alone was supposed to have induced without the famous 3x to 5X rate change they predicted.

All of the fear mongering and deceptions never came to pass and yet your here touting the lies..

Please provide just one paper showing EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE proving the current 0.6 deg C rise is due to CO2 and all mans fault. Here's a little hit for you... OF the 490 papers last year most tell us the rise is within normal cyclical variation and any attempt to claim CO2 is a driver has been met with the words "CO2's effect can not be discerned from noise in our climatic system"

Quit screaming your half truths and deceptions.. You are the true science denier because you have faith in a failed hypothesis.

The Greenland Ice Cores say your full of crap... Hottest my ass!

As for 'rate of warming' that lie is dead too. We have seen rates of warming far faster than today.

Here's one going to 2015. That the history of global warming is a series of declines in temperature is incontrovertible.

Deniers of Global Warming rely on emotion, not fact. Especially on message boards and in email between themselves.

The science was settled long ago. Global Warming is accelerating.

Silly ass, the trend has been downward for 6000 years, until we started burning fossil fuels big time. Now it is up, very much up. That you deny this simply demonstrates your abysmal ignorance.

What a dumb ass you are. The members of the Scientific Societies in the world have degrees in science, and they all state that AGW is real, and a clear and present danger.

That's the infamous and already debunked hockey stick graph.
Spewing your usual lies. The Hockey Stick graph has been confirmed by the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. And a dozen more other studies. One really gets tired of the pathetic lies of you deniers.

What a total fabrication. Fake.

Hear again we see a progressive climate crusaders use of semantics to paint a bogus picture. He uses the term "trend" to work his phony narrative. The progressive always uses vague terms like "increase"..."elevated"...."higher"....for the purpose of illustrating the desired goal.

I could say my dick is trending highly upward today.... to hero status.... but at my age I'm painting a bogus picture..... it really doesn't "trend" for shit except compared maybe to the guy who's 10 years older than me.

Indeed when you put the progressives argument to the comparison test it ALWAYS falls apart.:cul2:

He says "trends upward for 6000 years"....but conveniently leaves out a humongous spike in temperature of 3-4 degrees after 1100 AD. Last I checked people were buzzing around in horse and buggy back then.

The lesson is.... always be looking for the fakery in the presentation of information by the climate crusading progressive.
