Democrat heading bridge probe says Christie could be impeached if he knew of closures

By Michael Isikoff, National Investigative Correspondent, NBC News
The chairman of a New Jersey legislative panel investigating the George Washington Bridge lane closures said Gov. Chris Christie's top aides had engaged in a "cover-up" and the governor could be impeached if it is determined he was aware of efforts to use the bridge for political purposes.

"Using the George Washington Bridge, a public resource, to exact a political vendetta, is a crime," New Jersey Assemblyman John Wisniewski, who is spearheading the bridge probe, told NBC News on Saturday. "Having people use their official position to have a political game is a crime. So if those tie back to the governor in any way, it clearly becomes an impeachable offense."

toast

his pick for the bridge guy who took the 5th is going to out him BIG TIME.

right in the middle of the midterms your going to hear non stop talk of a republican high roller politician being a complete fucking scumbag to the VERY people hes suppose to be working for ....THE PEOPLE

the leftards are really going insane over some lane closure on some bridge which did not cause any substantial damage to anybody

A few thousand pissed off motorists are not enough to impeach a popular governor. Unless like our good friend Chris here at usmb you're too stupid to see reality when it comes to removing a governor from office.

IOW, TMN wants Christie to prove a negative.

And it's spelled "knew", not "new", you sad sack of silliness.

they called and called a nd called Christy and he refused to return any calls or texts.

He maintained the "radio silence" that was part of the plan.

Christy knew the plan.

pretending theres are no facts to back that Christy is a total scum wont work in your favor for very long

our leftards ARE stupid. especially the ones in this thread :D

If you think that, then you should also support Obama being impeached for the IRS, Benghazi, Spying on AP, Fast & Furious, etc. scandals.

oh, no. those are the phony scandals, remember?

closing some line on some bridge which does not have any harmful consequences - IS The Scandal

And I have to ask fellow conservatives why the HELL are you even fighting for Christie. He's a scumbucket and we know it.

Enjoy the Clinton moment. They got him dead to rights.

They are all scandals, including this bridge crap. I believe jail is also appropriate in this situation. Using the public as pawns in this manner CAN NOT be tolerated. Now whether or not Christie is involved I have no clue.

I have to ask you why are you so fond of our leftards and their dirty tricks?

OK I am not getting why any of you conservatives are fighting for this asshole? I'm loving every second of this flame out.

Why? Because the man is a monster. Plain and simple.

bridgecrap is NOT a scandal.

it is a perfect example of phony scandal in it's purest form.

and a desperate way to divert the attention from the real scandals and even bigger problems this administration has created.

and I am not getting what is there to love about it if you claim to be a conservative.

Diverting the attention of electorate from the real scandals and an extreme and painful problem obamacare is - is funny? It seems for you.

And it SHOULD NOT be if you claim to be a conservative.

I'd be in favor of impeachment if it's proven he was aware what was going on at the time. Bare knuckles politics against a fellow pol is one thing, but inconveniencing tens of thousands of innocent people in doing so, and perhaps endangering some to boot, should be grounds for tossing anyone out of office IMO.

And as a bonus he'd no longer be the media's GOP front-runner.
