The IRS recently denied a Christian nonprofit organization tax-exempt status, stating that the “Bible’s teachings are typically affiliated with the Republican Party and candidates.”

First Liberty Institute Counsel Lea Patterson said the claims “that Biblical values are exclusively Republican … might be news to President Biden, who is often described as basing his political ideology on his religious beliefs.” Patterson added: “Only a politicized IRS could see Americans who pray for their nation, vote in every election, and work to engage others in the political process as a threat. The IRS violated its own regulations in denying tax exempt status because Christians Engaged teaches biblical values.”

Leftists are drooling to come after Christianity.

Not really...

This is the IRS and you cut the actual quote the full quote

it's Bible’s teachings are typically affiliated with the Republican Party and candidates.”

So they were saying vote republican and selectively taking from the bible to convince people. This is a political group by definition...

By the way it also breaks with what Jesus said in the Bible..

The group was forming a PAC. See Citizens United and similar rulings on what these clowns will do with their fund raising, which is supporting their political cronies. They are not a church or a religion. they're political consultants and activists, not churches. They can incorporate like any other 501c non-profit does. They're trying to run a scam, is all. Just posting the word 'Christian' in front of your company name doesn't make you 'Speshul', nor qualified under the 1st Amendment's establishment clause. They want to be able to hide their account books and avoid audits.

it may not be an action organization, i.e., it may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates.

Lois Lerner redux. Totally expected. The dems use the federal government to go after Republicans. What else is new?
There is NOTHING Leftists would shrink from in order to retain power. They have become evil incarnate and unfortunately, they're apt to hold sway far into the future. The system they've created - with help from corrupt RINOs - will retain control and the rest of the population will have to fight to win. As in, be willing to ignore the laws THEY already ignore without caring about the repercussions. Eventually, we either ignore their demands or accept their boot on our neck forever.

Meanwhile Media Matters that makes no doubt that they are politically biased when they claim to "monitor only conservative speech" remains tax exempt.

You can't fix 'stupid' .... and sometimes Marxism.

Churches can lobby like anybody else, and pastors as individuals can endorse anybody they like; there is nothing in the establishment clause or anywhere else that says churches can't oppose abortion or any other legislation that goes against their religious beliefs. They just can't make political activism their main activity. Churches and pastors were the leading activists of the Civil Rights Movement, for instance; Evangelicals were also the leading activists who got Thomas Jefferson elected Vice President and then President of the U.S. as well. This group isn't a church, it's a purely political organization, which is different from a church establishment.

Finally, Christians Engaged empowers ordinary Christians who are generally unfamiliar with civic and public policy processes and issues to become actively involved by 1) “educat[ing] believers on the national issues that are central to our belief in the Bible as the inerrant Word of God,” and 2) providing training, resources, and mentorships that help them navigate the political process in order to “promote [their] values or get involved with [their] passion.”

On May 18, 2021, Exempt Organizations Director Stephen A. Martin denied the application, contending that Christians Engaged “engage in prohibited political campaign intervention” and “operate for a substantial non-exempt private purpose and for the private interests of the D [Republican] party.” This conclusion pointed specifically to Christians Engaged’s education of “believers on national issues that are central to their belief in the Bible as the inerrant M [Word of God]” : namely, “the sanctity of life, the definition of marriage, biblical justice, freedom of speech, defense, and [sic] borders and immigration, [and] U.S. and Israel relations.”

Because Director Martin believes that “bible [sic] teachings are typically affiliated with the D [Republican] party and candidates,” the Proposed Determination Letter found that “[t]his disqualifies [Christians Engaged] from exemption under IRC Section 501(c)(3).”

“Under federal law, to receive tax-exempt status as a religious organization, an organization must operate exclusively for charitable or educational purposes and must ‘not attempt to influence legislation’ or ‘participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates,’” The Blaze noted.

They weren't denied tax exempt status, they were denied the same exemptions churches get, is all. Non-profits of any kind don't pay taxes, they don't have any profits that are taxable. They were trying to incorporate under the wrong statute, and then whining for attention. Churches aren't require to incorporate, nor can they be audited, except under extreme and exact circumstances, like being a criminal racket; non-profits have to register and can be audited. These clowns wanted to hide what they did with the funds they raised for their PAC and who their donors were..

This also happened like 2.5 years ago and they are just now filing an appeal? This is little more than "Look at me and send us money".

In this case I certainly agree. The IRS guidelines are online and anybody can find them, no lawyer needed. These are scammers who want to hide all kinds of things from the public, like how much they plan on raking off the top and put in their own pockets.
