He's the one holding onto the mast for dear life.

In this account Jesus and the disciples were on the Sea of Galilee and a violent storm comes up suddenly. The Sea of Galilee is the lowest freshwater lake on earth at approximately 210 m (700 ft) below sea level. It is longer than it is wide. At its widest points, the lake measures 21 km (13 mi) from north to south and 12 km (7.5 mi) from east to west and is surrounded by hills. The elevation, shape and contour of the lake make it susceptible to storms. Violent storms do "roll" in there suddenly. They even have a name for it. They are called Sharkias.

"...Such storms result from differences in temperatures between the seacoast and the mountains beyond. The Sea of Galilee lies 680 feet below sea level. It is bounded by hills, especially on the east side where they reach 2000 feet high. These heights are a source of cool, dry air. In contrast, directly around the sea, the climate is semi-tropical with warm, moist air. The large difference in height between surrounding land and the sea causes large temperature and pressure changes. This results in strong winds dropping to the sea, funneling through the hills. The Sea of Galilee is small, and these winds may descend directly to the center of the lake with violent results. When the contrasting air masses meet, a storm can arise quickly and without warning. Small boats caught out on the sea are in immediate danger..."

More Than a Fisherman

In the account, Jesus is sleeping while His disciples are panicking. They couldn't understand how He could be sleeping while their lives were being threatened. That's how most people see God. He's not there when they are going through the storms of their lives.

God is a Master Gardner. He uses it all but does His best work when we are suffering. It's like pruning a bush. Some branches are thin and snap right off. Others are thicker and have to be sawed off. Some hurt more than others. At first it looks like crap. All sparse and twiggy, but then as the new growth occurs it comes in more full and looking better looking than before. He uses it all to progress us and for the one's who know how it works they have peace through the storms to the point they are not storms. But for everyone else they will be holding on for dear life like Rembrandt not understanding how God is working in their lives.

Lamar Alexander isn't God. Tell that creep he's spreading cancer causing viruses to the babes that he insist get their vaccines for he can get his cut from big pharma.

The main viruses associated with human cancers are human papillomavirus, hepatitis B and hepatitis C virus, Epstein–Barr virus, human T-lymphotropic virus, Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) and Merkel cell polyomavirus.

This type of reasoning can only come from a sociopath.
We are all dependent on the universe; and into sacrifices and surrenders of some sort. In your state of mind the surrender is submitted to as an imposition of necessity, and the sacrifice is undergone at the very best without complaint.

Whereas in my state of mind, surrender and sacrifice are embraced and even unnecessary givings-up are added in order that the happiness may increase. My state of mind provides peace through difficult times which everyone will experience.

So your real problem isn’t with me. Your real problem is that life isn’t free of suffering and you can’t deal with it. So you lash out at God for your failure.

So rather than being thankful for the blessings they have been given, fools like TN look for things to complain about and miss the bigger picture.

Garden dirt gets tilled when being prepared for planting of new things and it suffers tribulation in the process of the change.

When one encounters a storm in their life it is quite natural to respond poorly initially. Often times we get angry and deny what is happening or get angry and look to blame others. But after this has subsided, if we find something to be thankful for our attitude will turn and allow us to see the positives and learn and grow.

Be thankful your god puts you through hardships. Like your 4 year old dying by his hand.
The spin is absolutely ludicrous

No. It’s not. Only seeing the bad is ludicrous. Not being thankful for what you did have is ludicrous.

Your world view is fucked up.

We have literally won the cosmic lottery. To see it any other way is ludicrous.

In any good and proper evaluation a full accounting must be made. The good and the bad must be weighed.

To argue that existence is bad because hardships exist without properly weighing the good that exists is shortsighted and incorrect.

Only after a full accounting is performed can one properly determine the value of life. It is ridiculous to criticize the flaws in life as the only measure of life.

Kids having cancer is gods greatest work! - dingbat
So you would never wish to be born if you were going to have cancer?

You would never wish your child be born if he was going to get cancer?

Apparently TN needs a utopia before he believes it is better to exist than to not exist.

I’m more practical. I believe it is the ups and downs of life that make life worth living.

That hardships and tragedies, which are a minuscule part of our existence, are what makes our joys and triumphs worth experiencing.

What would success even mean if there wasn’t a risk of failure?
