Remember when Chris was crowing about how the Sequestration Deal was "brilliant" because it took the debt ceiling fight out of the hands of congress ????

Now Obama say's it's not gonna happen.

But Obama signed it into law. His people pushed it. WTF ?

Kinda tells you about Obama's spending cuts (five years out) as part of the "Grand Bargain".

One more Obama screw up.

One more place where people like Chris really screwed up.

Now, we are at a "fiscal cliff"....that was brilliant.

The President is right. Sequestration is NOT going to happen.

Oh...they'll all holler and yell and threaten the end of the world, but NEITHER party will let it happen and take the blame for it.

A deal will be made before it takes effect.

Count on it.

The point was that morons like Chris and the left thought this was a "brilliant" idea. It took it out of the hands of congress.....

So why did president affirmative action sign this bill if he didn't want it to happen ?

Can people on the left even think about it.

Do your own research about WHY it was agreed to. It was in all the papers at the time, so it won't be too hard for you to discover that the GOP was stonewalling....as usual during the past 2 years.

Why did Obama propose it if he had no intention of following through.

He was the obstructionist.

That's what deserved comment on the national news. I watched NBC the night after the debate and Andrea Mitchell did a segment on Mitt changing positions (even though her examples weren't of him changing positions, just of him clarifying things which she didn't want to give him credit for because it didn't fit her narrative).

I didn't hear any mention of Obama's actual news that the sequestration would not happen. Not on NBC anyway. Why isn't this getting more discussion?

Here's what Politifacts has to say about it. Their conclusion is that Obama's statement that he doesn't own sequestration is mostly false:

PolitiFact | Barack Obama says Congress owns sequestration cuts

However...remember that this was a result of the collapse of the Obama/Boehner "Grand Bargain." They had been negotiating directly and personally for some time and Obama thought they had an agreement. But, Boehner got slapped down by his own members and suddenly quit returning the President's calls. The slap down was over tax increases as a part of the "Grand Bargain." Too many new "tea party" members had signed the Grover Norquist no taxes pledge and weren't willing to compromise, even for the good of the nation. They forced the Speaker to back peddle.

This was the moment when Obama finally recognized that the Republican's were NOT going to meet him halfway. Up until that time, he'd been operating under the mistaken idea that the GOP was as interested in solving the nation's problems as he was, completely ignoring Mitch McConnell's publicy saying that their HIGHEST priority was to deny him a second term. They'd been blatant and open about it, yet Obama thought that just political posturing. The collapse of the Grand Bargain finally showed him that, no, the GOP was NOT interested in doing ANYTHING for the country if it could be seen as helping him.

Sequestration, and the $500 billion in defense cuts, was (and is) a strategy to FORCE the GOP to negotiate a budget deal.

It will work. In the end, the GOP will not lets sequestration come into effect and have to own the gutting of our Armed Forces.

Both sides made strategic errors, but the principal error was when the GOP agreed to it. It WILL come back to bite them in the butt.

So, in effect, Obama lied.
