More revisionist history from Dick. During a recent interview on CNN, Dick Cheney praised Obama for the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, but then went on to say that he believes Obama owes the Bush administration an apology for the way he criticized their reaction to 9/11. He also suggested that the Obama administration relied on 'enhanced interrogation techniques' to help find Anwar al-Awlaki.

What Cheney still fails to grasp is that Obama's criticism of the Bush administration's reaction to 9/11 was centered on their misguided invasion of Iraq and subsequent failure in Afghanistan. Perhaps Obama should revise his statements on torture if he did indeed authorize the use of it, or if it was authorized by top officials under his command; but what evidence does Cheney have that torture led to the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki? And even if that was the case, what makes Cheney think he deserves an apology?

Dick, Liz Cheney Praise Anwar Al-Awlaki Killing, Say Obama Owes Bush Administration An Apology

Dick Cheney called the killing of the U.S.-born al Qaida cleric in Yemen on Friday "a very good strike" and "justified" in an appearance on CNN's “State of the Union” Sunday.

But he also said Obama should take back his criticism of the Bush administration's tactics in the war on terrorism.

"The thing I am waiting for is for the administration to go back and correct something they said two years ago, when they criticized us for quote overreacting to the events of 9/11," Cheney said. "They in effect said we had walked away from our ideals, taking policy contrary to our ideals when we had enhanced interrogation techniques. They have clearly moved in the direction of taking robust action when they feel it is justified. In this case, it was. They need to go back and reconsider what the president said in Cairo."

The former vice president was referencing the speech Obama delivered in Cairo in 2009, in which he said the the trauma of 9/11 caused American to "act contrary to our ideals" and announced that "I have unequivocally prohibited the use of torture by the United States" and ordered Guantanamo Bay to be closed.

I love it. A liberal socialist President crowing over killing men willy nilly without trial called terrorists.

And liberals who would have strung up the W by now for ordering such a hit smearing this death all over their bodies.

This is freaking awesome. :clap2: I don't think it gets better than this.

So neither one of you two can come up with a valid reason for Obama to apologize to Bush/Cheney?

the question is, would YOU have criticized bush if he had done the same as Obama? be honest.... ;)

So neither one of you two can come up with a valid reason for Obama to apologize to Bush/Cheney?

You mean other than ripping them for all these policies, he's kept the same policies and even upped them a bit?

What has Obama changed since he took office. He got out of Iraq on Bush's schedule. He escalated drone attacks, he didn't close GitMo, he didn't stop enhanced interrogation, he escalated in Afghanistan, he started a war in Libya.

It reminds me of when liberals got upset during the Clinton Inaguration when some fighter jets did a fly over, and someone announced, "But those are our jets, now."

The thing is, I have no problem with that. I think he's being the grownup in the room. (Actually, I think the best thing about Obama is that he ceded national security issues to Hillary and Gates and Panetta, people who knew what they were doing.)

The Bush Administration was responsible for the deaths of over 100K innocent Iraqi civilians. They did nothing.

They are dead.

Where's the right wing on that?

I agree with Obama killing this terrorist. Yes he deserve credit for a job well done! I don't know about anymore apology's as they make our nation look weak.

He deserves credit? What did he do? Nothing. Our military deserve the credit - as always, regardless of who the President is. They, and they alone, deserve the credit.

It seriously creeps me out when people credit politicians for this work. They do nothing other than play politics with our military. Fuck 'em.

Indifferent. As is the left, for that matter.

No one is upset about 100K dead Iraqis. They were upset about 5000 dead Americans.

(Oh, is it down to 100K now? I mean, you loops on the left were saying it was 600K a few years ago. Did have a million Iraqis rise from the dead?)

The right is indifferent. Not the left. And everyone is upset about the dead Americans.

But it's the left that is correctly calling the invasion of Iraq a war crime.

And Cheney can't leave the country because of it.

Cheney and Bush leave the country all the time. Six days ago, he visited Canada.

Fact is, you guys didn't make a big deal about the Iraqis. YOu didn't care when 500K of them died due to treatable diseases during the sanctions of the Clinton years.

He called himself a terrorist and vowed to destroy America. We simply agreed.

Lucky Bush left him, Bin Laden and ALL the other terrorists for Obama to take out. Bush was busy in Iraq. Golfing and reading reports of young Americans dying, al Qaeda moving into Iraq, where they hadn't been before, and watching his friends rake in trillions in taxpayers money.

Nice to see Republicans defend that.

Actually..there is an Arrest warrant for Cheney..

Nigeria to charge Dick Cheney in $180 million bribery case, issue Interpol arrest warrant | The Raw Story

And Clinton's sanctions went through the UN and the proper channels. The fact that Iraq was so messed up it couldn't take care of it's own people or get any help is a testament to Hussien's lousy regime.

Iran and Cuba have been under far worse sanctions with very little effect.

Bush went through all the proper channels for the invasion. He got an authorization from Congress, he got a UN resolution. If that's your excuse, it's kind of lame.

And seriously, a third world shithole issuing an arrest warrent for Cheney is like a dog chasing a car. the real comedy is if he actually catches it.
