The government is incompetent, and never does anything well or even adequately.......they have no investment in doing things well....no matter how badly they do things, the bureaucrats always have their jobs, the tax money keeps coming in and no one holds them accountable for their screw ups........that is the the problem with those who support bigger and bigger government...they can't see that simple truth.

No, the problem is that we tend to see poverty as a moral failing, rather than an economic one.

You're poor? Well, it must because you have bad morals.... not because you are the victim of 400 years of racism or that we have criminal levels of wealth inequality.

We spend billions on expensive military toys that don't work, and a pittance on keeping our poor from starving... just enough to keep them from rioting and ... OH shit, they're rioting!!!

Welfare has no dignity the government takes money at gun point, and gives it to people who did not earn it, and losing much of the money to waste, fraud and abuse with a tiny amount actually making it to those who need it........C

What, are you actually saying the government is taking money from you at Gunpoint, and despite your personal arsenal, you let them do it? What about those Second Amendment Solutions you keep talking about?

Charity is people, on their own, helping other people, giving freely of their own time and money, without the threat of violence to take the money from some, to give it to others, and it actually is far more efficient and less wasteful of resources since the people who give the money are doing it freely, and target the money to those who actually need it....... you don't understand that which is why you think the way you do.....

Actually, charities are even more inefficient than the government.

If a charity is crooked, it can be exposed and dealt with......the government wastes, abuses, steals, and loses money, and they simply raise the amount you have to give...and if you refuse, they arrest you...

The real problem is the Right has been fighting a war on the Working Class for the last 50 years... and then they wonder why people vote for Democrats.

So let's review, shall we. Since Ronald Reagan, the rich have gotten richer and the poor have gotten poorer.

The bottom 40% of the population has less than 1% of the wealth. The middle 20% has 5% of the wealth. The next 20% has 7% of the wealth, and the top 20% have 87% of the wealth, with the 43% going to the top 1%.

What is wrong with this picture?

Wrong....the Rich have gotten richer and the poor have moved into the middle class...and the middle class moved into the wealthy class......

The Rich already pay most of the taxes........the poor pay no taxes...

Welfare has no dignity , im not sure where you get such a silly idea. Welfare is forced from the taxpayers who worked and given to desd beats.

Charity works better. Welfare rolls are filled with people who are dependent and abuse the idea for everything they can, collecting it as long as they can using any legal trick or excuse to c0ntinue collecting.

On the other hand private charity works more directly with people and therefore those giving out charity can tell whther someone is truly in need or just a dead beat milking the system.

Charity stems from compassion. Welfare does not.

Let me help you out.

Other Industrial Democracies only lock up the truly dangerous people. They don't let everyone have a gun, they have fair living wages, they have socialized medicine and extensive welfare states. Prostitution is legal and they treat drugs addiction as a medical problem and not a criminal one.

Our country, we pretty much criminalize all sorts of behavior... we have a whole Prison-Industrial Complex, which employs 700,000 police officers, 400,000 correctional officers, 92,000 parole officers, and so on. It's big business... the taxpayers spending a lot of money to keep a boot on the neck of the poor.

Maybe it's time to try something different.
