Could Cantor be a bigger ass? At the same time that he and the GOP were calling for offsets to disaster relief, Cantor was calling FEMA and lobbying them for disaster relief for earthquake victims in his Virginia district. I guess the old saying, 'all politics is local', even applies to sniveling Virginia tight-ass, Eric Cantor.

Report: Cantor pressed FEMA for timeline on emergency aid to his district during budget fight - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), who controversially demanded that Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster funding be tied to federal budget cuts first, is pressing the agency to provide a timeline for disaster aid to victims of the August earthquake in his Virginia district.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Cantor held a conference call Friday with FEMA and county officials to press the government officials to provide more information on when and how disaster aid would be coming. He has also lobbied Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on behalf of his district.

FEMA's budget has been in turmoil this month as Democrats and Republicans bickered over stopgap funding for the agency's emergency relief fund. Republicans have demanded that additional funding be offset by cuts in other areas of the federal budget, while Democrats argued that the relief effort merited additional deficit spending.

As Congress was sorting out its budget issues, the agency was moving around money and halting projects to keep relief funds available through the end of the fiscal year, Sept. 30. The agency has slowed payments to individuals and local governments rebuilding after disasters in order to keep available funds for immediate needs like firefighters and search-and-rescue teams.

delays probably have more to do with the virginia department of emergency management than anything else. Staffing cuts to state emergency management departments have crippled any progress for aid. However, it sure is ironic as fuck to see this bastard talk out of the other side of his mouth when it's HIS back yard in shambles.

Until the rules change for everyone it would be polticially stupid for him to refuse money that would help his constituency.

I agree - delays happen, and they certainly aren't the fault of Cantor's. But, like you said, it sure is ironic. The fact of the matter is that this would not be news (not that the so-called "liberal mainstream media" is paying attention) if Cantor hadn't opened his cake-hole about offsetting disaster relief. He looks like an ass.

NO righties want to defend Cantor's hypocrisy and foot-in-mouth disease?

Is Dilloduck not a righty?

I don't want to assume. Perhaps Dilloduck is simply being intellectually honest about the matter.
