TORONTO, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Canadian police and migrant aid groups are bracing for an influx of asylum-seekers fleeing President-elect Donald Trump's United States at the same time Canada deals with record numbers of refugee claimants and is trying to bring in fewer immigrants.

The former and now future U.S. president swept to power this week in part on a promise to enact the largest deportation in American history.

Canadian police have been preparing for months, said Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sergeant Charles Poirier on Thursday.

Oh at first they will embrace just to be edgy it but soon enough they will find that people only can take so much before they reanalyze their belief system.

You have to be brought to your knees, and millions of migrants flooding in will do just that.

Then again 25% of the population of Canada is foreign born, so they've already lost.

Why would this be a "worst case"? These are hard-working young men who merely want a chance to start a new life in a civilized country. Wouldn't Canada benefit from a surge of immigrants?

Make them all lumberjacks.

Canada is a liberal, sanctuary country with great , free healthcare they can provide to the asylum seekers.

They should be opening their border and rolling out the welcome mat.

Rumor has it, there is a bumper crop of snow peas up in Canada with nobody to pick it, and Canada loves illegals. Get a move on boys.

May be the savages can "enrich" the Canadian culture now! :)

Housing shortages. It existed before the pandemic and now it’s chronic because for 3 years no new housing was built.

We don’t need lumberjacks. Your ignorance of Canada is showing. We need tech people and people with degrees.

Canada is seeing a surge of investment as companies looking to do business in the NA Free trade zone are no longer opening operations in the US due to the political instability. It started during Trump’s first term.

Canada offers better infrastructure, a better educated work force, universal government funded health care and one of the best public education systems in the world. Gun control and political stability are also factors.

Canada may not need lumberjacks in 2025, but they do need migrants who will do the jobs Canadians won't do like in construction and service jobs. And housing shortages can easily be rectified by the manufacture of trailers or even the idea of "tiny houses"( which we used to call shacks back in the day). Northern Canada is ideal for the construction of igloos
