"Putin critic Alexei Navalny has urged France to vote for Emmanuel Macron as he slammed Marine Le Pen's links to Vladimir Putin. The jailed opposition leader accused the National Rally leader, whose party received a €9million loan from a Kremlin-backed bank in 2014 of 'corruption'. He added he was 'shocked' that Le Pen's party received the substantial loan from 'Putin's notorious money-laundering outfit', the First Czech-Russian Bank. This is corruption. This is selling political influence to Putin,' he added.

Le Pen has been forced to play down her Russian links during her election campaign after Putin's barbaric invasion of Ukraine. The politician visited the Kremlin in 2017 and praised Putin's 'new vision' for the world and accepted loans to fund her party. Last month, she had to discard a million election leaflets emblazoned with a photo of her and the Russian leader. Le Pen, an anti-immigration nationalist who has gained ground this year by tapping anger over inflation, has significantly narrowed the gap in public support compared to the last presidential election five years ago, when she lost with 34 per cent of the vote to Macron's 66 per cent."

Hopefully, LePen will win the election this weekend which will be a game-changer for geo-politics...because if she follows thru on her promise to weaken this whole European alliance thing that we have all been misled into believing was so great; that will definitely help bring about world peace. If the world powers would simply coalesce around Russia (a country that has proven to be the only country fighting for Christian values) -- then that insures that there won't be any threats of nuclear wars, etc.....all of those countries can then impose their collective leverage against China and keep those slant-eyed chinks in check....unless of course, Russia says otherwise....this still all hinges on what Russia will allow and not allow, since they are the alpha country in all of this...

However, if Marine LaPen is half the leader her father is, then France will be in good hands...her father was a brave passionate holocaust denying truthteller long before it was fashionable and acceptable among the mainstream right-wing movement..If LaPen can walk that fine line of being covertly Pro-Nazi while tapping in to that anti-immigrant anger, she can really turn things around in Europe.....

This will be a very interesting and important result, helping us gauge how far autocratic White Nationalism has increased globally over the last six years or so.

Papa Le Pen was the real deal. That old bastard hated everyone. Mlle Le Pen is a bit sneaky and hides her hatred of the darkies more or less.

Her love of Putin and reliance on his money may work against her in the current climate.

France is not suited to the modern world. They have a great way of life where work is not the be all and end all.

They spend most afternoons shagging their neighbours which is probably a lot more fun than sweating at a desk. Depending on your neighbour obviously.

COVID restrictions and inflation over there has really made a lot of French folks open to the rhetoric Lapen is putting out

By the way, you have to admire how Biden is so powerful that he can cause inflation in France

She talks a good line but beware of the promises of fascism!

Most on this forum have supported Trump at some point in time and so won't be equipped with enough understanding to even approach the question.

The political spectrum has become confused and so a new understanding of tradional left/right divide and political rivalry needs to be considered.

We at least can still depend on the fact that socialism is leftist leaning and that still opposes the fascism of the extreme right.

La Pen has a history of being extreme right, yet she promises several social changes. She shows support for an antiwar agenda but is hotly opposed by America's political left? That can only mean that the political left in America is in the process of throwing out any semblance of socialism or social responsibility

The French are always unhappy about something. Its in their DNA.

Your last paragraph sounds like nonsense...

So, can you tell me what economic policies Lapen or any so-called "fascist" or right-winger plans to implement that benefits the working class??

So far, all I have seen is just anti-illegal immigration rhetoric.....but that rhetoric does ZERO to address the working class....

Are these fascists now going to be pro-union?? pro collective bargaining? Or do they think rhetoric is enough?

The antiwar agenda she displays could make up for her racist flaws Tommy. It's her influence on the world that is much more important than France.

However, we're in a time in which a country's elected leader can be overruled and taken down by a fascist element.

If she wins she will be accused of cheating or will have cheated. Huge pressure will be brought to bear against her by America is she truly is threatening to pull France out of Nato and it's future planned wars.

I didn't suggest that but I will say that her antiwar stance and her lack of support for Nato and it's continuing wars, would hugely benefit the working clas.

If that's all you've seen and understand about her agenda, you're not aware enough to debate.
Are these fascists now going to be pro-union?? pro collective bargaining? Or do they think rhetoric is enough?
I warned that the political spectrum has become confused. The traditional extreme right has never supported unions and social responsibility in government for the working class.

If she supports fascism then will she support unions? Or do you think it's just rhetoric?

What do you think? Be careful to not compromise your own personal agenda.

When was France's last "planned war"?

I do remember this country passing symbolic legislation to protest France not being gung ho enough about one of this country's planned wars; by calling french fries, freedom fries...

And the most recent planned war we have right now is Putin's planned war...but we have people bending over backwards to justify it....and ironically, a lot of those people were the same people bending over backwards to justify another planned war that we all like to pretend we were on the right side of......AFTER THE FACT....

Yes, it is rhetoric...

Which is why you couldn't answer a single question I asked you...

So I will ask again....What economic policies are being implemented by right-wingers that benefit the working class...and simply saying "I'm anti-war" isn't an economic policy if you continue to increase the military budget...and oppose any policy that specifically benefits middle class/working class people.....

All you have left, is rhetoric...

There has always been a racist element in France. But the french generally have the sense to not support these goons.
France is doing ok without diluting the culture with refugees of color and foreign ideas

The French have every right to say France for the French only

When was France's last "planned war"?
That would be the last US war in which America enlisted the support of Nato countries and France cooperated. I guess that has to be the current war.
And La Pen at least claims she opposes it.

Regardless of how it's accomplished, America will find it impossible to allow France to get out.
I do remember this country passing symbolic legislation to protest France not being gung ho enough about one that country's planned war; by calling french fries, freedom fries...

The current war is still the last.
And the most recent planned war we have right now is Putin's planned war...but we have people bending over backwards to justify it....and ironically, a lot of those people were the same people bending over backwards to justify another planned war that we all like to pretend we were on the right side of......AFTER THE FACT....
You're suggesting the Iraq war and that's the war that should have waked the world up to the facts on US aggression.

Chretien kept Canada out on an official flag basis but Canadians did participate.

In any case, it was a brutal war that was started by America on false pretenses.

Yesterday some talking head mentioned that 200 children had died in either the war or one battle.
Mad Albright said half a million dead children were worth it in her war.

Even 200 isn't worth it.

Same answer,-------- none.
And again, stopping France's participation in America's wars indirectly benefits the working class. The working class fight wars. Would you prefer to change that to 'directly' benefitting?
All you have left, is rhetoric...
And so I'll leave you with your denial.
