Can Conservative Atheism/Secularism Make Common Political Cause With Conservative Christendom? No.

{1} Atheism/Secularism wants a totally different America than does Conservative Christendom and the two sides are never going to reconcile or harmonize ---but will become more and more hostile and war-like as conditions worsen in America. Secularism's world-view is in direct opposition with Christendom's world-view. They want different America's.

{2} Atheism/Secularism has turned into a political movement that is at ideological war with Christianity and with Theism.

"New Atheism is a term coined by the journalist Gary Wolf in 2006 to describe the positions promoted by some atheists of the twenty-first century. According to Richard Ostling, Bertrand Russell, in his 1927 essay Why I Am Not a Christian, made recommendations similar to those proposed by the New Atheists, suggesting that there are no substantive differences between traditional atheism and New Atheism"___Wiki

It is dangerous to mix religion and politics. There are liberal Christians and conservative ones. They run the whole spectrum, or are you one of those Christians that feels they can judge if others are 'true' Christians or not? This country was built on religious tolerance, do you want to change that?

I'm an atheist and generally a liberal when it comes to social issues but I don't like being labeled. I'm more moderate when it comes to personal responsibility and fiscal issues. I get along fine with Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, and the occasional Hindu, regardless of their politics. Can you say the same?

conservativism, whether religious or secular, involves the preservation of the constitution right of freedom of religion.

any conservative who feels a need to "counter" religious faith, is not a conservative, in the american tradition.

Given Conservative' and 'Liberal' are matters of Constitutional interpretation and context, I don't see any' conflict' on the basics between Conservatives and Liberals; I do however don't buy for a second that right wing sociopaths are any more deserving of being taken seriously than their left wing sociopath brothers are. Conservatives are not right wingers and Liberals are not left wingers in any American sense; that's just a commie media disinformation racket.

It is dangerous to mix religion and politics. ?

No, it isn't; it was colonies with varied established religious sects that formed a country. Never see that happening with a bunch of commie atheist sociopaths coming to such a series of amicable gentlemen' agreements; even the atheists back then fully understood and appreciated the importance of WASP values and morals as contributors to a superior social organization. It's far more dangerous to pretend atheists could ever do better than what the Evul Xians achieved via tradition and superior management practices. See F.A. Hayek's The Fatal Conceit for a great explanation of that, along with this neat little essay by a conservative who isn't a right wing sociopath and doesn't feel any need to suck up to nutjobs.

"There are many varieties of libertarianism, from natural-law libertarianism (the least crazy) to anarcho-capitalism (the most), and some varieties avoid some of the criticisms below. But many are still subject to most of them, and some of the more successful varieties—I recently heard a respected pundit insist that classical liberalism is libertarianism—enter a gray area where it is not really clear that they are libertarians at all. But because 95 percent of the libertarianism one encounters at cocktail parties, on editorial pages, and on Capitol Hill is a kind of commonplace “street” libertarianism, I decline to allow libertarians the sophistical trick of using a vulgar libertarianism to agitate for what they want by defending a refined version of their doctrine when challenged philosophically. We’ve seen Marxists pull that before.

This is no surprise, as libertarianism is basically the Marxism of the Right. If Marxism is the delusion that one can run society purely on altruism and collectivism, then libertarianism is the mirror-image delusion that one can run it purely on selfishness and individualism. Society in fact requires both individualism and collectivism, both selfishness and altruism, to function. Like Marxism, libertarianism offers the fraudulent intellectual security of a complete a priori account of the political good without the effort of empirical investigation. Like Marxism, it aspires, overtly or covertly, to reduce social life to economics. And like Marxism, it has its historical myths and a genius for making its followers feel like an elect unbound by the moral rules of their society.

...
Empirically, most people don’t actually want absolute freedom, which is why democracies don’t elect libertarian governments. Irony of ironies, people don’t choose absolute freedom. But this refutes libertarianism by its own premise, as libertarianism defines the good as the freely chosen, yet people do not choose it. Paradoxically, people exercise their freedom not to be libertarians. "

Commies and 'Libertarians' both promise the same results as the endgame they claim to be shooting for, but of course they both know they're just lying as well. They want to dictate to 'Everybody Else', is all, and will avoid the much advertised 'endgames' at all costs.

{1} No I cannot judge if others are true Christians.
{1} I tend to accept all professing Christians as true Christians.
{3} I do not want to get rid of religious tolerance.
{4} I can NOT get along just fine with folks regardless of their politics. No.
{5} I don't think you can either.

Best.

Atheism has little to do with political views

"Atheism has little to do with political views"___Rightwinger

You don't believe the bolded red below?

{1} Atheism/Secularism wants a totally different America than does Conservative Christendom and the two sides are never going to reconcile or harmonize ---but will become more and more hostile and war-like as conditions worsen in America. Secularism's world-view is in direct opposition with Christendom's world-view. They want different America's.

{2} Atheism/Secularism has turned into a political movement that is at ideological war with Christianity and with Theism.

"New Atheism is a term coined by the journalist Gary Wolf in 2006 to describe the positions promoted by some atheists of the twenty-first century. This modern-day atheism is advanced by a group of thinkers and writers who advocate the view that superstition, religion and irrationalism should not simply be tolerated but should be countered, criticized, and exposed by rational argument wherever their influence arises in government, education, and politics.

Picaro, that was an interesting read.
Thanks for posting that.

Nah, I'm to tired to go to war.
You just want others to fight your war?

No, it isn't; it was colonies with varied established religious sects that formed a country.
They formed a country because they didn't choose to enforce any particular religious dogma. They essentially left their religious beliefs at the door. Atheists would have been very comfortable in that room.

I don't. If atheism is at war with Christianity it is because Christianity has always been a very intolerant religion and has variously attacked pagans, atheists, Jews, and other Christians.
