Here's the problem: since the election of van Buren no two term Democrat president has had a non-incumbent successor of his own party. If Obama can pull this off no one can accuse him of being just a bucket list president even if he is succeeded by another bucket list president such as Hillary or Warren.

In order to pull this off he must play defense on the following:

Obamacare.

Foreign Policy.

Economic policy.

This will result in a squeaker as in 2000 or 1960 with no coattails, a midterm correction election away from the party of the White House. at the national and state levels. As a libertarian I like this result because it will shorten the D bench even further and create a political vacuum. But can he pull it off?

People are tired of the corruption and are ready for a change (not the kind we're seeing now). Hillary is offensive and a known liar (not that that would affect the Dem vote) and the American people are ready for a fresh face. Hillary has been Obama's bitch and has no achievements to point to. She's an empty pants suit.

After Hillary the dems have nothing and with Hilary they have a boatload of issues. No more Clintons or Bushes.

Agree to everything with one exception, a woman as president is on the MSM bucket list. If Obama avoids obvious disaster her election is very slightly better than a coin flip probability due to the MSM acting as her opposition research.

true. But how does that negate my point?

I was just making a point. Obama's bucket list will hurt any Dem candidate, the midterms proved that. Obamacare issues will still be an issue, foreign policy is a wreck and he can't (or doesn't know how to fix it). He's duped his base into believing this is a recovered economy so that's one thing he is defending well.

No argument from me but as Gruber pointed out the Ds have a lock on the stupid voter and as Obama's reelection proved the stupid/incompetent are a plurality of voters.

Problem is that every one of the repub alternatives are looking like clowns. Regardless of message they all appear to be trying too hard and are obviously pandering. I hope someone dynamic with a genuine approach comes out of the woodwork. And it cannot be a democrat.

Nutters......

As we write these silly posts....full of wishful thinking and all.....we've got to consider the evidence.

As it stands.....the evidence is that Hillary Clinton is kicking GOP ass in every poll. Of course.....polls will move. But...that is not relevant to THIS discussion that we are having TODAY.

Based on current polling.....the electorate is not going to penalize President Obama. As much as that fact bites you in the ass.....not ONE of your GOP hopefuls can say that they are ahead in polling vs Hillary Clinton. It isn't even close.

Your only hope....it seems....is that the economy stops growing.....or we are attacked by terrorists while Obama is golfing...or Bill Clinton gets his dick stuck in a vending machine.

The odds.....if they matter to any of you nutcases....are in favor of Obama leaving the office to a Democrat.

Enjoy your dinner.

WTF! You said something that was 100% lucid. Where did that come from?

So you agree with the repub messages of anti-homo-marriage and anti-obamacare and pro capitalism?

Check the archives. Whenever a nutter directs a post at a thinking person.....and that post begins with the word "so".......what follows is just about always a load of shit. True story.

So you have no response beyond attempted disparagement? So what else is new for a lefty.

I think you failed to grasp my first reply to you. Do you think I was agreeing with you or disagreeing with you? Maybe you don't know what "lucid" means.

No argument from me but as Gruber pointed out the Ds have a lock on the stupid voter and as Obama's reelection proved the stupid/incompetent are a plurality of voters.

So far I haven't seen anyone who will be able to motivate the low information voters to get off the couch. So far none of the likely dems are that charismatic.

Well except for Walker no one on the R side has moved up in the standings and as far as the Ds go as long as enough people turnout to cover up obvious fraud what's the problem?

You're a supporter of the 1% controlling 100% of the wealth. Something much uglier then mexico is your model is what you're thinking. Believe me I hate both parties.

I wish the republicans had vision and took this country back to 1955. ;) Focus on infrastructure, science and r&d investment and tell the rich you need to fucking pay.

If Biden gets the Democrat nomination then I would not at all be surprised to see Obama off himself during his last year in office. Now that's Democrat devotion to the socialist cause!

Why do it?

Because Biden would immediately become president and continue the Soros agenda. Then, already the nominee, be guaranteed to win the general election out of pity. So Democrats would be guaranteed minimum four plus years, probably eight if Plugs didn't screw it up too badly.

Why would anyone do that to themselves?

It's a Muslim thing. Suicide vests and all that. All is good if if helps The Cause!

Walker is much closer to the Trump or Christi type than he is to maobama. maobama was nothing but slick marketing and fancy speeches, great for campaigning, which he has continued to do, but not so much for being a leader capable of administering. You can bet maobama will sell his marketing machine to the person he wants, but honestly I don't see it being that effective for anyone else, but that won't stop him from lining his pockets.

I am pro-capitalism! But, capitalism isn't allowing a few super rich people to control the entire pie either...It is all about competition and the right of workers. Your flat earth idea of economics is kind of sad.

I also support the traditional family and believe it is the corner stone of society... Homo's are welcome to screw each other in peace but they have no right to the "name" marriage. Also, Obamacare is modeled after republican ideas of George hw Bush times.
