The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has plans to shut down two prisons, but more closures could soon be on the way because of the state's rapidly shrinking inmate population.

According to the Legislative Analyst's Office, the state could close a total of five prisons by 2025.

Easy peasy fix to a problem. With the number of homeless, with the number of illegals, why can't these prisons be used for housing. Is it really necessary for the government to purchase hotel after hotel to house these folks??

They could relieve the load by executing each and everyone of the 725 inmates on death row immediately.

They've had it forever but haven't executed anyone in ages.

:eusa_doh: Here is a thought, let's put people who break the law and are a danger to law abiding citizens in prison...

It's sad that we have come this far with these never-ending problems. The State and Federal Government always seem to find some arrogant way to (try to) solve any problems when it comes to the Homeless. Now another problem that they could have easily avoided in the first place - and that is the illegal immigrants. What the Federal Government is always good at, is just putting a "band aid" on these problems. Instead of actually solving it, and not really caring the repercussions it will cause later on. The state just "follows" what the Federal Government does/says. So, they are no better than the latter.

Most of these hardcore felons that will be led out into the society either cannot or don't want to be rehabilitated. So, whatever they were sent to these prisons in the first place will only repeat their demises on society - murder, kidnapping, raping and others.

They're running out of money to give to illegal aliens, so they'll endanger public safety to come up with it.

Of course, they sure wouldn't want to prevent them from coming here, that'd be absurd.
