I have mixed feelings about this.

• OTOH you can't just have a cadre of illegals or terrorists commandeer a bus in Mexico and drive it freely into our country with unknown intentions.

• But OTOH, are Border Agents really equipped to determine legal status and have sole power on a bus?

So I think both sides have a case. Greyhound bears some responsibility (perhaps working with local officials) to ask for and see SOME documentation which indicates legal rights to come into the country before boarding. Visa or some such paperwork. Then upon reaching the border, passengers must go through a checkpoint where they are officially screened. Those that have some question or lapse in documents then wait to go before a judge to have the matter decided. If they fail to meet minimum requirements, they are turned back.

It's up to the courts to decide if buses traveling in proximity to the border present a probable cause to conduct a warrantless border search.

So my understanding is that Greyhound buys busses from the company that supplies for city bus system. I found this out because there was an item on the government budgets for greyhound.

Given that, I don't think police should need a warrant to get on public property.
