The man who underwent the longest ever hunger strike in Palestine has been freed.

GOD certainly is good and to Him is certainly owed all the glory and praise for this.

BREAKING: Palestinian prisoner Samer Issawi released from Israeli Jail

Ahram Online, Monday 23 Dec 2013

"Palestinian political prisoner and resistance icon Samer Issawi was released on Monday after spending over 17 months in the Israeli occupation detention centre Shatta Prison."

"Samer Issawi's family was ordered by Israeli terror police earlier today not to celebrate and to take down the flags raised at their home," this is according to The Free Samer Issawi Campaign page on Facebook. It was also reported on by Maan.

Samer Issawi ended his 277-day long hunger strike on April 23, 2013 after accepting a deal brokered by Israeli and Palestinian officials to serve 8 months on charges of violating bail conditions for an earlier release.

In October 2011, Samer Issawi, then serving the ninth year of a 30-year jail sentence for involvement in resistance activities against Israel, was released as part of the Egypt-brokered prisoner swap between Hamas and Israeli authorities.

The Shalit deal led to the release of captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in exchange for more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

However, Issawi was rearrested in July of 2012 under Israel’s so-called administrative detention law.

The administrative detention law, which has been in place since the end of the British mandate in Palestine in 1948, allows for the arrest of Palestinians if they are deemed a "threat" to Israel's national security.

Amnesty International has classified Israel's administrative detention practices as unlawful under international law.

I have had it with those Zionists in Israel. Peace offerings, a security fence & land concessions to Palestinians so they can continue to squat on Israel's land & kill Israeli's for a thank you. And now this terrorist release. When will Israel ever learn from the surrounding Arab countries how to treat Palestinians?

I never saw any indication that Amnesty had a huge issue with the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit.

It seems that Amnesty has a double standard when it comes to appeasing Islamic terrorists.

I wonder if Samer's wife managed to get Mamoud bin Jody out of the house before Samer got home? :dunno:

Zionists always show me their capacity for depravity knows no bounds.

Injustices certainly do bring out the very best in people and the very worst.

Right you are. Those Zionist leaders in Israel should be tried & covicted for war crimes against their own citizens.

That is right, they need to be tried for all the many war crimes committed against all the true citizens of Palestine.

Bless you for agreeing with me that Israel's treatment of Palestinians is unforgivable. Who but those Zionists in Israel ever made peace offerings to Palestinians, built a security fence so they can remain where they are & even gave them their own land? And never even once have the Zionists in Israel tried to help free the Palestinians back to their indigenous homelands. Shame! Shame! Shame!

Bomb maker that was released ten years late in a deal. He violated parole rearrested and now a hunger strike and re-release.
Samer made pipe bombs.

Does not look like he was staving himself.
Maybe he was drinking his food
It does not mention how much weight he lost during those 277 days

What a brave and courageous man Samer Issawi is, to survive the Zionist torture cells .

Such a beautiful role model , his acts of nonviolent resistance in his long enduring hunger strike for freedom and justice.

A Paragon of Humility.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness sake.

War crimes committed against citizens of where? Since when are Arab squatters and land thieves "true" citizens?

I can only give you a 4.5 for such pomposity and melodrama.

He looks healthier than Gilad Shalit was when he was released. As did all the terrorist prisoners released on condition that the Palestinians attend the peace talks. They all look so well fed from all that Halal food they get served in Israeli prisons. Israel is once again kowtowing to public opinion in the most disgraceful manner in releasing convicted terrorists.

So Israel are so desperate for Pollard's release they are willing to release more terrorists in exchange. They have taken leave of their senses. This is disgusting.

Channel 2 reports that Netanyahu will demand Pollard's release - by agreeing to release more terrorists, or as part of interim deal.

Unconfirmed report claims that Netanyahu will reportedly ask for Pollard's release in one of two frameworks: either for another exchange of more Arab terrorist prisoners, or as part of agreeing to the interim deal between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Don't compare him to Gilad Shalit, Caroline. Gilad is a sparkling diamond, filled with modesty and light. Samer is a bad shaped stone in comparison. Useless and dirty.

Why is the OP posting this here if there is a sub-forum for Israel-Palestine?
