The CDC advice changes with the situation. This isn't a static situation, it's evolving. Every time Trump rejects CDC advice, he makes things worse, and the CDC advice is changed to reflect the new situation. Not once in this pandemic has done what the CDC said. The CDC has done what Trump said.

The CDC told Trump to bring sick people home from the Diamond Princess, on a separate place. The people who met those planes should be trained with dealing with infectious people, and protected with PPE. Trump brought everybody back on one plane. The DHS staff who met them at the airport didn't wear PPE's and the outbreak spread amongst the returning Americans, and throughout the community from the people who met them. Shit like that.

The WHO test. Had Trump used it, you would have had cheap, reliable accurate testing from day. Trump wanted American labs to profit from the test, which meant he had to have exclusive rights. You can now buy a home test for $115. No idea how accurate it is, or if it works at all because the CDC isn't evaluating the tests. In Germany you can buy an accurate WHO test for $18. That's why Trump didn't take the WHO test.

Not having a test means that the virus spread throughout the USA before you even knew it was there. Finally, three weeks after Canada closed down, Trump closed down. Sort of. Now, three weeks before Canada re-opened, Trump re-opened. Canada is seeing cases rise as people behave foolishly. Cases in the USA have never dipped or slowed down. They have risen steadily since day one.
