Massive quantities of water are taken from the Colorado river for agriculture. And a large percentage of that is for corn for ethanol.

Ethanol is a gimmick and the entire process creates more pollution than using gasoline.

A large percentage of that water is used to grow corn for biofuels.
“Water used in energy extraction, processing and conversion is a significant share of overall demand for water demand in the United States. It is likely to rise as we increase reliance on water-intensive fuels.

Some of the fuels that have been promoted by government policies have larger-than-average water consumption, especially biofuels for transportation fuels. Corn ethanol has by far the highest water consumption of any fuel analyzed, largely due to irrigation during the corn-growing stage.”

They are sucking water out of the Colorado River to create biofuels, and then blame it on fossil fuels.

Ethanol is not a gimmick, it is a government welfare program for corn farmers.

I don't believe there is a "large percentage" of corn grown in the Colorado River watershed. Lots of lettuce, melons and veggie crops, but not a great deal of corn.

California has an almost non-existent corn crop. They produce 0.8% of US corn., ranking 34th of 50 states.

And? Other states drain water for the corn used in making ethanol.
Corn production is minimal outside the midwestern states. Why do you persist in this fantasy? Corn simply does not grow well in western states which are mountainous or desert terrain.

Utah .08%
Arizona .04%
Colorado .87% (Virtually all corn in Colorado is grown in the eastern part of the state and receives no water from west of the Great Divide.
Nevada - production was so small it wasn't even listed.
