The Big band era was wonderful.

Great music even today.

My late mom was a huge Glenn Miller fan. One Christmas when I was a teen, I bought her a Best of Glenn Miller two album set. On Christmas morning when she came downstairs, I had her favorite song 'Moonlight Serenade' queued up on the turntable. She cried and gave me a huge hug. It was my best Christmas.

I love the Big Band Sound, love Glenn Miller.

I am especially digging what Brian Setzer is doing today:

He's gone, but not forgotten.

Mr. New Year's Eve. This was his last one. Now my speakers aren't working (one chunky kitty knocked them off the desk last night) so I'm hoping this is as good as it appears to be.

It's not just the bands. It's not just the tunes. It was just such a magical time to remember.

Friday night was the night my dad always took my mom out dancing. She'd stop in at the hair dressers and omg I just realized the hairdresser must have used a can of hairspray every time  because my mom could have stood in gale force winds and not one hair would be out place.

She'd break out her Chanel No5. I just remember my dad smelling of Old Spice and Vitalis. And off they'd go in this blue and white chevy belair with fins and real chrome.

It was a marvelous and innocent time to grow up.
