US President Joe Biden's age is increasingly becoming a source of concern at the White House, according to The New York Times

Of course this has been well known for months now.
But the relevant question is on whether is matters at all on a personal level with Biden on US foreign policy meetings?
All foreign policy is capably handled by the Pentagon by now and that puts the president down as a figurehead who must comply.

Do Americans feel that a strong leader is necessary anymore?
Especially when Biden can be made to look strong by simply reading a strong statement written for him to serve the purpose.

IMHO only: Great risk and peril to a president who doesn't comply. Biden has to go soon but hopefully it will be willingly.

And as a sidenote, Trump won't be accepted willingly during a time of war that is so critical to America's future!

Evaluating Biden's and Trump's mental acuity on the basis of their relative ages is ridiculous. Biden was a moron 10 years ago. I would be more concerned about Trump's actuarial mortality than a decline in his mental abilities. Even Warren Buffett couldn't have kept up with Trump at the same age.

Contrastingly, Ron DeSantis may be too young for the Presidency. His experience as a Governor is a huge plus, but I would prefer a few more years under his belt before assuming higher office. Ideally, I would like to see candidates between 50-70 years of age, because they would have experienced more up-and-down cycles of business and politics.

A Trump-DeSantis ticket might be a dream team in some ways, but dreams seldom turn into realities. I just hope the GOP doesn't tear itself apart in 2024 like it did in 1912 (Taft/Roosevelt) and 1992 (Bush/Perot) and hand the Presidency to the Democrats.
