Biden stimulus bill $15 minimum wage

It sure as hell does. I you ever owned a business you'd know that

In a way I do. I'm a landlord. When garbage pickup for my tenants goes up in price, when my plumber charges more for repairs, when water and sewer costs more because their workers are making more money, when my property taxes increase because the city workers are making more money, when the parts and things I buy to maintain this place goes up in price, when my heating contractor charges more for repairs, I have to increase the price of my rental units.

That in itself is a problem, but unlike retail business, I have no employees to pay.

What you have to realize is that when you increase minimum wage gradually or all at once, wage is only part of the cost. The current national minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. An increase to $15.00 means it over doubles. In other words, if an employer has to increase wages for each employee by $7.50 per hour, it's actually costing the employer $10.00 an hour or more when all other costs are figured in.

I have a small widget company. I have 12 employees on my staff. I do okay, but I'm far from rich. Now Biden gets in and increases the MW. It costs me $10.00 extra per hour for each employee. That's $4,800 more every week I have to pay them. At the end of the month, that costs me $24,000 a month. Can you tell me where I'm going to get this money at?

When your tenants make more money you can raise your rent. or at the very least won't have them moving out because they're not making the rent...leaving you with empty units.

Try for rent increases on tenants who can barely afford the rent now...you get vacant units.

THAT makes no sense whatsoever

That's because you know nothing about business. When an employer voluntarily increases an employees wage by $1.00 an hour, that's $40.00 per week plus overtime. An employer is bound by law to match employees SS contributions which will be higher because the employee is making more. The employer also has to match employee contributions to Medicare which again, will increase due to more income. An employer has to pay more to an employee when they're not working such as holiday or vacation pay. Because unemployment and workman's compensation would have to pay more due to loss of work or injury, the cost of those insurance premiums increases, no different than if you bought a new car to replace your 10 year old car, or purchase a new home that's worth $50,000 more than your last one.

Now in this case, we are not talking about $1.00 per hour. We are talking over $300.00 per employee per week.

China Joe gotta kiss the asses of the filthy Union bosses.

A lot of Union wages are tied to a multiple of minimum wage. The higher the minimum wage the higher the greedy Union wages.

Good way to fuck an economy.
You misunderstand the problem. Labor needs to be able to afford our first world economy. Wages should have an institutional upward pressure to meet or beat inflation. As an example, the minimum wage was not adjusted for around a decade, and inflation still happened. The private sector had no market based incentive to have that wage keep up with inflation since they merely asked their employees to sign up for social services, for the bottom line of Capitalists not the free market.

It should be about reducing the Cost of government through market friendly public policies. Low wages means more Government socialism such as the earned income credit or means tested welfare. Labor should make enough to where those services are not needed or are only needed on a more exceptional means tested basis. Less need for government services means lower cost of Government.

Which is why I'm hoping he does it. Let people realize what they voted for.
Being able to better afford our first world economy, and have more money to spend on goods and services?

You guys make that claim every time this comes up and it never happens. Newsflash...when people have money they SPEND money...and that keeps businesses going

But Republicans will block this. Ya know...because they support the working man (cough cough)

We've never seen a doubling of the national minimum wage in our life. Those businesses barely holding on won't be able to come back. It will stop new businesses from emerging. It may keep businesses going, but those businesses will be moving out of the country because you can't raise wages on one group of people. It's going to have a domino effect which will not only give us inflation like we've never seen since Carter, but put those minimum wage workers right back to where they are now in a matter of a few years because everything will cost so much more.
Why was the minimum wage not keeping up with inflation to begin with? Right wingers are simply disingenuous claiming free market capitalism works when it obviously doesn't work for the Poor, hence the need for public sector intervention.

And, why do right wingers keep claiming they can't handle a higher Cost of doing business when they pass any other cost of doing business on to the consumer whenever they can. It seems disingenuous and more like right wingers only caring about the Profit instead of the People who would be better able to buy their goods and services.

If you can't, do it all yourself, employers shouldn't complain about wages for those who help them make their profit.

You know that, everyone else knows that, so why do right wingers complain about simply passing on costs to the consumer who will be making more? Right wingers make it seem like they simply prefer to keep the Poor, poor and getting them on the Government teat so they can make their Profit while whining about taxes.

Exactly. If you think the work has such little value that you aren't willing to pay decently for it

DO IT YOURSELF AND SEE HOW MUCH MONEY YOU MAKE

it isnt a national 15 minimum wage. Its for federal employees.
