Best movies of each decade

This was a really enjoyable western. I really liked Maureen O'Hara as the English lady with the Bull. I will always remember her as the fiery Irish red head in the Quiet Man, also a very good movie.

A real good feel-good movie for sure.,

The Quiet Man is one of the few John Wayne movies, I really liked. He managed to shed some of his real man bravado and do some real acting. Rio Bravo and Red River are excellent, due more to the direction of Howard Hawks than Wayne's acting.

“The Quiet Man” was a longtime passion project for John Ford, a romantic, sentimental journey back to his Irish roots. It was also a major departure for the director and his favorite leading man, better known for their more macho collaborations. He admitted that it was a real gamble as to whether the public would accept Wayne in this role. However, they did, and audiences loved the picture. It was nominated for 7 academy awards.

The Quiet Man was also my mother's favorite movie. A few years before she died I gave her a VCR tape of the movie and she watched it over and over. Just a few days before she died, I ask if I could do something for her and she asked me to move the TV and VCR into her bedroom so she could watch this movie one more time. Looking back, I think watching that movie with her was one of the most enjoyable moments in my life, For the first time in weeks she was smiling and laughing the way she had done for years.

I'm just sort of guessing, a few shots in the void.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, the best movie of the 50s? . Yes, it's certainly good eye candy and one of the better movies that Monroe made but far from best made the 50's or even best Monroe made. Some Like It Hot is by far Monroe's best movie

Any one of following movies made in 50's are better movies than Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
All About Eve
Born Yesterday
An American in Paris
Streetcar Named Desire
High Noon
The Quiet Man
From Here to Eternity
Shane
Roman Holiday
On the Waterfront
The Caine Mutiny
Marty
Mister Roberts
Picnic
Giant
The Bridge on the River Kwai
12 Angry Men
Autie Mame
GiGi
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Diary of Anne Franks
Ben Hur

The Usual Suspects is one of the greatest mind fuck movies I ever watched…

Also Braveheart damn you!

Finally, Hudson Hawk is one movie I suggest for anyone to watch while wanting to off yourself because you wish you had!
