A teacher and basketball coach at a North Carolina school was killed in a shooting after trying to rob the home of a Mexican drug cartel member, authorities said Wednesday.
Barney Dale Harris and his brother-in-law, Steven Alexander Stewart Jr., were accused of robbing an alleged "stash house" last Thursday belonging to a member of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, one of the world's most powerful drug trafficking organizations, Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson said at a news conference.

Investigators determined Harris and Stewart broke into the mobile home of Alonso Beltra Lara and waited for him to come back, according to the sheriff. When the man returned home, a shooting broke out that resulted in the deaths of Harris and Lara, Johnson said.
Deputies responded around 1 a.m. to multiple calls of gunfire at the residence in the 1000 block of Wyatt Road in Green Level, about 30 miles northwest of Greensboro, according to the sheriff's office. Officers found the bodies of Harris, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and Lara, who was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries, authorities said.
"It was almost like an old Western shootout," Johnson said. No other injuries were reported, but three other trailers were struck by bullets.
Harris, wearing a bulletproof vest, gloves and a face mask, was shot multiple times, according to the sheriff. Lara, whose hands and feet were bound, was shot twice in the back of the head.
During the investigation, deputies seized five firearms, around $7,000 in cash and 1.2 kilograms of cocaine, authorities said.

Stewart, 32, was arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting after a search of his home in Wadesboro turned up "related objects tied to the crime scene," Johnson said. He was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and possession of firearm by felon in connection to the shooting, according to authorities.

Well, I can only hope that he was able to teach them some critical race theory before he died.
There was not time

However, just spending a brief few minutes with the public school teaching the drug cartel boss now feels like a woman trapped in a man's body and is currently seeking a sex change.

The guy they tried to rob..is dead. He was bound hand and foot and shot twice in the head. One can only speculate, but I think they tried to use him for a hostage..and the other guys said, "So what, shoot him!"

For the record..he taught at a private charter school...not that that matters to your ever-jerking knee~

I wonder if the other guy tried to leave the scene with the money like...

The cartel will be after two black families. The cartels wipe everyone out. This might lead to a black cartel war.

Harris and his brother in law are black....Harris taught SPANISH and basketball. He was reportedly very "popular" with his students. Stewart was married to Harris's sister and has a criminal record. The Stash house belongs to a guy name Daniel Lara ( believed relative of the younger LARA that they tied up and killed.) Daniel Lara is believed to be in MEXICO as he has outstanding warrants for his arrest.

When these bozos decided to kill their hostage who btw was 18 years old------------so much for the kids, the noise alerted the other gang members who then arrived and had a shoot out with these two Einsteins killing Harris. The surrounding neightbors are quit worried about Retaliation coming to Harris and Stewarts families--they too see a burning barrel with bodies being in this families near future. Many of the surrounding neighbor trailers had video cameras hooked up----so they all know exactly who was involved and what happened.

Sure doesn't sound like an "old west style" shootout. Sounds more like your typical drug cartel violence.

Good grief. What an idiot. And he thought that he could get away with this.

Coach Barney Dale Harris, was a beloved basketball coach at Union Academy Charter School. The Daily Beast reported:

Students and parents alike joined in mourning the sudden death of a popular high school basketball coach earlier this week in Monroe, North Carolina. They fondly recalled his uplifting “all love, no fear” motto, the “encouragement and motivation” he gave to students at his school, and his smile that “will forever remain etched in our hearts.”
But two days later, the local sheriff dropped a bombshell: teacher Barney Dale Harris had died while allegedly trying to rob a Mexican drug cartel.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office alleges that Harris and his brother-in-law, 32-year-old Steven Alexander Stewart Jr., went to a stash house with the intent to steal drugs and money from the cartel, per Hank Lee and Briana Harper of WCNC Charlotte.

The Sheriff’s Office alleges that Harris and Stewart Jr. broke into the home and waited for someone to arrive before the robbery, per Joe Marusak of the Charlotte Observer. Alonso Beltran Lara, an 18-year-old who allegedly worked as a drug runner for the cartel, then walked inside where Harris and Stewart allegedly bound and gagged him before shooting him twice in the back of the head outside the house. Stewart has since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to WBTV.
Per Marusak, Johnson said that an “old Western shootout” soon erupted between “two criminal enterprises,” one represented by Harris and Stewart Jr. and the other being the cartel. Harris was shot and killed during that gunfire and was found dead inside a bedroom in the house.
Juan Daniel Salinas Lara is wanted in connection with the case, per WBTV. He also has active warrants for cocaine trafficking.
