Behold...……….the Pontiac 'Trans Az'

Ugly - just like beauty - is in the eye of the beholder. The same people who mock the Pacer look at the VW bug, VW microbus and porsche 914 (all uglier than the Pacer) as "classic." The Pontiac Aztec at the top of this thread would sell copiously today if fitted with the customary geegaws.

The Pacer was a revolutionary concept and a car that transported four full-sized adults in comfort, in about the same parking space as a Chevy Vega. Sabotaged in utero by GM's last-minute decision not to make (and provide to AMC) the Wankel engine around which the car was designed, it was also hampered by AMC's financial inability to design many model-specific components.

It was a car that deserved better than it got.
