Automation and robots taking over jobs. Like tollbooth collectors and cashiers.

Not in this country anyway.
It’s a global marketplace now.

You’re making the best case for people to leave these low paying jobs behind and skill up to sonething better.

If you want America to continue being the best, you need to recognize the need to have a highly educated and skilled workforce going foreword.
A highly educated and skilled workforce is the enemy of the Marxists regime though. It is easier to control stupid people, as we see with the Joe Biden voter.

Look at the loss of jobs at toll booths…. we have been convinced by the government that it’s a great thing that we can spend a little less time waiting in line all at the expense of jobs for people. How about the self check out lines at various stores?
But I’m concerned about fellow Americans losing their jobs which is an ugly site it’s against American values.
We got a country filled with takers because of these goddamn robots taking over jobs. Making a bunch of people lazy they eat fast food all the time
Wives and daughters will have to prostitute themselves.

Ummm?
We seem to have a little bit of runaway Chicken Little-ism going on this morning? Simple tedious jobs are under threat? And the mothers and their daugters of those cashiers and toll collectors now gotta go screw strangers? For money? Mercy sakes!!

And yet, I go to restaurants in the evening and the places are full, with people waiting in the lobby. I go to TSC, or Lowe's or the feed mill.......and they are busy with customers at most all times. And in my drive back and forth to one of the farms ....about 40 miles ....I regularly see up to 2 dozen 'Help Wanted' signs.

So clearly, those re-purposed cashiers and toll collectors.....have opportunities elsewhere. Without having to trick-out Mom & Sis under the corner streetlamp.

Just sayin'.

Indeed.
Retirement saving is a lifetime endeavor.
This should be taught as a life skill in high school at the age kids start working.

So should all personal investments like real estate, the stock market, the commodities market, starting your own business.....

It will never happen because these liberal public schools are not about to make little capitalists out of our children. They are not going to teach them that you can do well in life without government. Leave academia for colleges. Here we teach kids that Billy can become a girl by wearing a dress.

Do you notice sometimes at McDonald’s that people are miserable. When it gets busy there everyone uses the kiosk to order the food and then they’re waiting in line miserable and angry. We don’t need McDonald’s anymore in this country they don’t really do anything good other than put out unhealthy food. Maybe they should change the menu

It's a good thing you're not a businessman. Companies only produce what people want, and people want those big macs and chocolate milk shakes.

You’re making great points and I pretty much agree with you. So the thing is if we allow this to keep on happening we won’t have a country anymore. There’s gonna be millions of Americans who become homeless.

So how do we disallow it from happening?

What if we disallowed any advancements? What if we outlawed backhoes so we didn't replace the ditch digger, outlawed computers so we always have phone operators, outlaw refrigerators so the ice man always had a job, outlaw pay-per-view so that we always had video stores?

As the great UAW founder Walter Reuther one told Henry Ford III at Ford… “hey you might have robots who can take jobs but how are those robots going to buy your products.?”

Now there’s a brilliant man…. here it is Walter Reuther with LBJ. And there’s plenty of Republicans now on this forum who back in the day voted for LBJ the great Texan.

Are we going to let the United States turn into a shit hole country. Or we can have Americans stand up and protect our jobs?

This applies to many things. The automation at the automotive companies. You just wonder what are people thinking what are the bosses thinking who the heck are going to buy their products of the robots just take over? It’s a serious concern or would you let robots take over our society.?

“ oh you should be happy that you can get your ez pass and you can just drive wherever you want without having to see a toll booth worker and wait in line. Don’t worry about those people losing their jobs they’ll be OK”

Look at the loss of jobs at toll booths…. we have been convinced by the government that it’s a great thing that we can spend a little less time waiting in line all at the expense of jobs for people. and I’m not down with that one bit.

How about the self check out lines at various stores? . It makes it easier for people to steal by the way it makes it easier for bad customers to steal. A lot of people struggle with the self checkout line it gets frustrating a lot of people have disabilities and they can’t deal with that. And so that’s another thing a self checkout lines take away jobs from cashiers. This is not how this country was envisioned by the founding fathers…. and we have to stand up to this we had to stand up to automation taking over jobs … we don’t need this to happen

Let’s bring back the tollbooth jobs and get rid of self check out lines at the grocery stores.

I have a lot of things i buy on the Amazon Subscribe and Save program does that count as a computer or an automatic stock picker shopping for me?

They want to make little consumers who spend more than they make all to keep the money flowing to their corporate masters.

When people rely on government handouts it’s a huge problem. It’s just like one of my immigrant friends from Palestine said he wants to be a maker not a taker. We got a country filled with takers because of these goddamn robots taking over jobs. Making a bunch of people lazy they eat fast food all the time

Automation has nothing to do with that. Don't worry about the greedy companies, worry more about the greedy politicians that want these government dependents for power.

Plenty of jobs and good paying jobs out there today even with automaton. The problem is trying to get people to work those jobs.

/-----/ Robots aren't making people takers. There are plenty of jobs out there with no applicants. Fast food and grocery stores moved towards self-checkout because of the ever-increasing demands of workers. Blame $15-an-hour demands and the ridiculous claim of a living wage for entry-level jobs. Those penny-profit businesses are designed for cheap labor, high volume, and low profit.

I’m doing pretty good for myself brother. Could be better could be worse I suppose but all in all it’s OK …

But I’m concerned about fellow Americans losing their jobs which is an ugly site it’s against American values. That’s what the communists and fascists would want…. They love when robots take over jobs for Americans.

If we don’t stand up for the American past and bring back the good parts of the American past our country is totally screwed.

In one sense yes and another sense no.

We do lose a lot of jobs to automation, but we replace those jobs with other jobs at the same time.

When I grew up nobody in the neighborhood had a lawn care service. I don't think there were even that many around. Nobody had snow removal either. You got a shovel and shoveled your drive, or invest in a snowblower, but you still did it yourself. When you wanted a big mac combo, you drove to McDonald's and got one. Today younger people call Uber Eats and they pick up the meal for you.

One of the reasons the apartment rental business is booming today is younger people don't want the hassle of home ownership. They don't want to learn how to fix that hole in the wall, replace a flapper valve on a toilet, or change a light fixture that has a short in it. For those that do buy a house they call repairmen for everything under the sun.

I went grocery shopping with my mother earlier this week. Mom takes a lot of time so when I get done with my shopping, I pull the car up to the door and wait for her to come out. The door area is also where they load cars with groceries for people too lazy to shop. I was amazed at how many cars pulled up to get their groceries that the workers had to pull for them.

I totally understand brother. I am a poker player. And I dominate.

I think it’s a sad thing in this country that so many Americans are out of shape whether they’re too skinny or overweight. A lot of it is due to the fast food diet. It’s OK for us to have some disagreements just know that I’m voting for the same people you are.

And as I’ve said before I stand by the men who built America.

Today’s so-called businessman are
nothing like they used to be. Remember these are the same anti-Americans who donate millions and millions to Black Lives Matter that’s what we’re dealing with here

The day that McDonald’s goes out of business is one of the best days in American history.

Automation has taken more jobs than sending jobs overseas and illegal immigration combined. And it took the good jobs. The ones that built the greatest middle class the world has ever seen.

One day, automation and artificial intelligence will cause this country to become socialist. It will cost us millions of jobs. When the tipping point comes, it will be that there are not enough jobs for our population. Hundreds of thousands of American citizens will be unable to feed themselves, to say nothing of housing. And some sort of basic level of assistance will have to be established.

Having said all that, I do not see a way for the gov't to outlaw automation and AI without taking over every means of production.

This was the focal point of Andrew Yang's campaign in 2020 and he was mocked for it by a lot of people, especially on the right, but he was correct. Some form of universal basic income may be required. In the same respect, however, we should be better preparing for this in our education system. The change into automation is going to require more engineers and technology professionals to create, develop, and maintain these systems and we're grossly dropping the ball on this.

Except that will never happen because everything in business is consumer driven. That's why unions are dead and buried. We won't buy their overpriced products. We buy foreign made products that are cheaper. As long as people want McDonald's products, they will always remain in business. I don't care what anybody says, McDonald's has the best coffee and milk shakes and I'm willing to spend the money to get them.

it sounds like you are a responsible person though. The problem is way too many Americans are unresponsible when it comes to fast food diet again whether they’re too thin or two large we have a health problem in this country. That’s a serious thing because that’s the years come on we’re just gonna get more and more and more unhealthy. Wasn’t like this in the 40s and 50s

again we are voting for the same people so don’t be upset with me. There’s a horrible problem in this country with Black Lives Matter and guess who supports its them corporations like McDonald’s they give them millions of dollars. They are the enemy

Not upset at all, just pointing out realities of the modern day. We can never bring back the past. It's long behind us and not coming back. Those of us that are older can only thank God we experienced what it was like to live during that time.

I have a very emotional neighbor. All he does is live in the past and it's eating up his life. He had a dog and used to come out everyday to read his paper under the trees in the backyard while his tiny dog played about. The dog died two years ago and I haven't seen him outside since. He says it's not the same without the dog. Now he spends our few beautiful summer days in the house sulking over a dead animal.

His mother died about five years ago and left him her house. He's been paying property taxes, insurance and utilities on it all this time. He won't move there and sell his house here, he won't rent it out, he won't sell it. He said he can't because he grew up there and has too many memories.

Long story short, whether we like it or not, we have to move forward. You can be like my neighbor and let the past ruin the rest of your life, or you can learn how to deal with the changing times and take measures to advance your future. It's just like I told my neighbor, the memories are in your head, not within four walls. Those walls are nothing more than plaster or drywall. Quit spending the thousands every year to maintain the house, sell it instead and invest that money in a conservative growth account, and your future will be much brighter when you need that money, and yes, the memories will still be there.

Be careful! A member of Black Lives Matter is hiding under your bed.

You really should talk to a mental health professional about this racist obsession you keep bringing up.

The capitalists need cheep labour force as badly as air. So the main priority for ruling classes all over the world is to seek for the means to decrease the wellbeing of working class. And one of the most effective means is a war.
