Attorney for woman found alive at Detroit funeral home: 'They were about to embalm her'

ETROIT (WXYZ) — A 20-year-old woman believed to have died was found breathing at a Detroit funeral home.

"They were about to embalm her which is most frightening had she not had her eyes open. They would have begun draining her blood to be very, very frank about it," Attorney Geoffrey Fieger, who has been hired by Timesha Beauchamp's family.

On Sunday morning, Southfield Fire Department paramedics responded to a home for an unresponsive woman. When they arrived, the fire chief said Beauchamp wasn't breathing; after standard efforts to revive her, first responders determined after about 30 minutes that she was deceased.

The person opening that body bag had quite a shock when "the body" was looking at him. Shock will also come to the EMS first responders get their attorneys.

At least they didn't take her to the hospital where she might have been parted out like a used auto.

I would think the hospital would have machines hooked up to her to let them know sh was still alive.

i've heard of this ritual/tradition:

Wakes have evolved over history. In ancient times, wakes were the practice of sitting vigil over a body immediately after a person’s death. There is a common misconception that the practice of sitting up with a body through the night was to make sure they were dead and not just sleeping. This seems plausible, as people throughout history have feared being buried alive. The proliferation of safety coffins invented during cholera epidemics in the 18th and 19th centuries is evidence of this.

This is why when Ruth Ginsburg dies we have to be sure she's dead.Checking her for rigor mortis ain't enough.

Inside a body bag might be the safest place in Detroit, or Chicago.

Wait!! The EMS took her DIRRECTLY to a funeral home? Seriously? Did anyone make funeral arrangements which is sort of done before embalming. Something is wrong here

Hmmm. When my mother died, the nursing home sent her to the hospital morgue. Seems unlikely the family was psychologically ready to name a funeral home when the 20 year old died.

Some states do not require a donor card but can just use presumptive donor for taking parts.

No one had the stones to lay their hand on her skin to see how cold she was/wasn't? If no, and obviously no, I appreciate those around her for letting the rest of us know just how far their brain trains do not have the ability to travel.

God bless you and the girl always!!!
