As predicted, and honestly assumed - Biden's unity pledge was lip service. And nothing more.

On a hill
Today, White House spokesperson fielded several questions and pressured to answer if Biden is for Unity, will he intervene in the Trump impeachment.
Her answer - "he will leave the specifics up to Congress"

In other words - he is not a leader, is not strong enough to make a stand of his own. Is not being Presidential and doing what is best for the country.
Yet another impeachment trial, based on little to nothing, endless posturing and Democrats clamoring to the microphone to be sure their sound byte is recorded...accusations without merit.... on and on and on... is the last thing this country needs. Will solve nothing, prove nothing, and everyone knows the outcome is already set regardless - Congress with pass and the Senate will not.

If the President was genuine in his statement it is time to move on... he would do this.

He's not really responsible for addressing what Trump may have done illegally while Potus. It's the Senate's baby now. Biden could pardon them though, but … probably not.

He can do multiple things...
1) AT THE VERY LEAST.... Communicate formally with the two houses in a letter (that is public) saying he believes it is best for the country to move forward as a single country, and an impeachment trial sends the opposite message.
2) Like Ford with Nixon, he can preemptively pardon Trump which will stop all proceeding dead cold.

And "he isn't responsible".... Jesus Christ. Of course he is. He is the President. He is he single one person more responsible for the good of the country than any other person on earth.

Crying over Biden not protecting Trump from his own stupidity. LOL

Biden has no credibility.....the only presidential candidate to be forced to drop out because of his plagarism and lying.

If he didn't pardon, he knows the crosshairs would be on him. We have a long tradition of leaving a president alone once he leaves office, and each new president has incentive to do so because each president does things he knows would get him in a lot of trouble, and each new president knows what the last one did.

Trump's not leaving office without still contending he was a the victim of some conspiracy theory he cannot prove. Trump's morally and civilly fair game for inciting a riot …. if it is shown he had a reason to suspect they'd actually attack the capitol

We've had many long traditions go away in the last 4 years, Like the non violent transfer of power and not trying to shut down Congress while it is in joint session counting the EC votes. Another long standing tradition we've had for hundreds of years was broken after Trumpy was recorded attempting voter fraud in Georgia.

So I hope we break that one too.

Good luck proving any of that. especially given that he explicitly told people going to the capitol to do it peacefully.
